Is a tongue post with a wheel usable on a 195RB trailer?

I have both a standard tongue post as well as a post with a wheel for my 195RB, 22 foot, 3750 lb GVWR trailer.

The post with the wheel was passed on by the previous owners, and I imagine they found it useful, but wonder in what way it would be used, and if it would be dangerous to try to manouvre the trailer around without it being attached to the tow vehicle. I would think one could easily lose control even on a flat surface.

And is it even possible to push such a heavy trailer even on a smooth flat surface?

Not a good idea to try that. It could end badly very fast. I'd stow the wheel for some future project, or small utility trailer.

TT's come from the factory with a tongue wheel. I have never used my wheel, and just threw it out last summer.

You loose a lot of stability with it. If you are on an incline it is one more thing to help the TT to roll away.

Many people buy a foot for the tongue jack. For decades I just used a board and it dug in a bit. Now I have a board with a piece of copper flashing on it. The board will last until it rots away.

I bought a Flipfoot last year. It automatically retracts when raising the jack.

The wheel is a bad idea. I would replace it with a flat foot or this:

We used one for 120,000 miles on our 195
It comes in very handy when hitching up with a vehicle that lacks a back up camera. You can push the trailer around a couple of inches for the inevitable near misses with a cameraless tow vehicle.
The wheel is removable when you unhitch We set the tibe on a block of wood . We added front stabilizers
The trailer waa rock solid in camp

Which stabilizers do you use on the front? Would you buy the same ones again?

I would not use a wheel on a trailer that size. I have one for my 6x10 utility trailer and the tongue jack flexes when I move it even with a light load in the trailer.

I used my wheel on my old popup to maneuver it when stored in my garage on a flat concrete floor.

One time when we first started camping I parked in the dark, unhooked chains and wires, jacked it off the ball and watched it roll down hill. Luckily, no damage and about 20 very nice campers rushed over and pushed it back where it belongs. Even chocked, wheels are a potential disaster so I replaced mine with a mushroom foot and reserved the wheel for winter storage in the garage.

We made them out of 2x4 mitered snd cut to butt against the frame. The bottoms each had eye bolts and a ratchet strap ran through the eyes
Quick to assemble and the cost was 0 as we had eveything already

Was the purpose of the ratchet strap to tighten the 2x4s vertically against the frame?

To keep the feet from
spreading and the assemnvly collapsing
The 2x4 s are the legs of an A shape
