How is your inverter wired? I thought it would be as simple as cutting the pre-installed wiring and attaching one side to the dc and one to ac on the inverter. When I checked for polarity one the cut wires none of them had 12 v DC so I am not sure how to use the wires I cut nor how to get to connect to my batteries that are outside on the tongue.

The inverter “pre wire” is only AC not DC at all. Which model trailer do you have and what is the size of inverter? (watt wise)

Inverter pre-wire

I have a 284BHS, 2022 Jay Flight SLX 8. The prewire is in the pass-thru. I was thinking or installing a 2000 inverter from Renogy. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9SXV61...roduct_details.

I can't comment on the pre-wiring. TomC_AZ is one of the experts.

However, I can comment on Renogy's inverters. They are amazing. I have the 700W version (with the remote on/off switch) and it punches above its rating. It will run my wife's compact hair dryer! We also use it to charge our 20V tool batteries and power my laptop and monitor when remote working without an electrical connection.

JayLo, I found this post of yours and am interested in how your mounted this in your 171BH? We are picking up our 199MBS and I sure would like to figure out how to mount this in ours. If you don't mind, would you send me some info on it mounted? Also, wondering about your coupler. I ordered an Andersen WDH and there is a warning on the install manual about Atwood couples 88007, 88010, 88555, and 88600 that say they will potentially disconnect over time and use. I don't know the coupler on my unit and wonder if you have an Atwood on yours? Thanks much!

I've not seen pictures of an 88010 or an 88600, but the first image below is an 88007 and the 88555 looks just like it. On the Micros, at least, Jayco uses an underslung exactly like the second picture. No markings on mine, and e-trailer makes it sound like it is their design. Only one I've seen with a forward thumb latch.

These are what Jayco uses, but there are many many types of same thing. I put extra pieces of wood behind the brackets since you are mounting to the wafer thin stuff.

Yep, bottom one. I think somewhere some said it’s a inverted something something that you also see on boat trailers a lot.

Where did you actually find this fold down? Is there a place online to order it?

What you need to do is find another trailer on the lot that actually has the counter extension in it. Then take a picture of the model and VIN to the Parts Counter and ask them to order a replacement counter top extension for that trailer for you.

This was the “hack” we used at the dealership. My dealer was surprised that we figured out how to get one since you can’t just order one if your trailer doesn’t have that “part number”. They just had Jayco ship it right to my house it was like $30.

A lot of us use the E2 WDH if you are comparing.

Hey All,

My wife and I are in the process of picking up a 171BH and we are excited. In doing our research we have found out that there seem to be two different restroom door and the door mount / partition configurations. One of configurations the door opens left to right and the other is right to left. The left to right has the top of the door closed off to the bathroom while the left to right is open a good 2-3" I would guess.

Does anybody know why there are two variants? I assume maybe two different lines at the factory? Is one preferred for one reason or another?

My wife would prefer the "sealed" bathroom for privacy but we can get a better deal on one that has the gap.

This thread and the board have been super helpful in our searching!

Also, for a trailer that is Solar Prepped vs. has the Basic Solar Package.. Can you buy the parts from Jayco to upgrade a Prepped 171 to have the basic?

First on the attaching of images, to an existing post you have to click the "Go Advanced" button. Then you have to select each image and then upload them. At that point you can then close the pop up window and the images should be there, do a preview post to double check.

On the doors, I have not heard about this but I have seen in youtube videos where they talk about the gaps on the doors. Usually it comes down to the skill level of the person who is hanging the doors and how straight the other walls are. I dont know if that is true but it seemed to make sense to me. Especially after touring the mfg build shops of a few brands.

On the solar prep you can buy the parts, but they would come from the dealer or if you do it yourself from Amazon or whatever other distributor you go with (Renogy, Newpowa, Rich Solar, Battleborn etc..). If it is just prepped and you want to do any solar I strongly recommend doing a MPPT controller and not mounting it in the wall where they tell you to cut it. The wires from the roof are there in the wall but they also go up to where the battery disconnect switch is. You can easily tap into them there and put what ever you want in.

Pictures.. this doesn't seem to be a "quality" thing.. but really more of a two different design thing.

They will build like 10-15 trailers per day, I wonder if they run out of those top pieces. Or, and this will sound funny but going to say it, the person who is mounting it is either right or left handed? Seems like the doors are both the same size/length etc.. the gaps at the bottom are the same. We have a 166 and it has the top piece, so a full door and sealed at the top. But other 166's have open tops... Just didn't make enough or have enough left by the end of the run that day, and if not we mount it to open the opposite direction?? It does of course, at least for me, bring up consistency in build and makes you wonder what else is missing/different. Also the one with the top does have solar in the wall where the other appears to just be the sticker.

In looking around at Micros I hadn't noticed the door difference on the 171BH, but I can tell you that there are a myriad of differences in 2022 166FBS units, so I'm not surprised that there would be some with the 171. In the 166 there can be two drawers under the TV, or four. There can be a drawer under the fridge, or no drawer. There can be a flush-mounted sink, or an inset sink. Etc., etc. all in the same model year. It could be in-model-year changes, or it could be different manufacturing plants. For example they are made in both Idaho and Indiana.

That is the first I have seen that too. Typically, the smaller door is for trailers with ONLY a bath fan and no max fan. But since the 171bh has both fans, it is supposed to be designed with solid door.

There is a catch however. We love the 2 fan setup because it allows you to open the bathroom vent and turn on the Maxfan in living room to get a very good natural cooling at night. In mine, I have to leave the door open to do this, if I had the cut door, I could leave the door closed.

Note: it’s 17’ trailer, there is no privacy, BUT I get what you are saying. Also, the 171BH has more storage than most any trailer until you get to 30’, you will love it!

Double NOTE: use a PDI checklist!!

My 195RB has the gap at the top and bottom. At first I thought this was a bad idea from privacy point of view. But as there is no heat or cool air being forced into the bath the openings are needed to prevent it getting very hot or cold and control moisture.

I retrofit the Hengs fan in the bath and nice to use as it works well with the bath door closed and almost no noise on low and no need to prop the door open.
