Lithium batteries

I'm on shore power but my converter will not charge my batteries unless I push a button then it goes into boost mode and charges them.
My question is will my furnace run them down to nothing over night? Its freezing so I have to run furnace.
Thanks!

What model do you have? My converter will still charge my lithium while on shore power, but I have to hit the boost button as well to top them off. I just hit the button when we get to our destination and hit it again before we leave to top them off. I would think that your converter would still charge the batteries to 80%-90% without having to hit the boost button??

Its a PD4500 I believe. Once I push the button it will stay in boost mode 14.6v charging for 4 hrs after that it goes back 13.6v. Will that lower voltage continue to give them some charge? I dont know.

Yes, the lower voltage will still charge the lithium. I have same converter as you. If you never hit the boost button it will only charge the batteries to 80%-90%. It will do that consistently when on shore power. You have to hit the boost button to top the batteries off to about 98%-99%.

This was all told to me via email with a tech at progressive when I was considering changing out my converter…I decided not to and just hit the boost button!

Have you checked your PD4500 to see if it’s Lithium compatible, I believe Jayco started installing the newer ones in 2019 and newer and they have a switch on the board to change to a lithium charge profile. There is a switch to change between Lead Acid and Lithium.

If you have it set to Lithium, you shouldn’t have to hit the boost button at all to charge them to capacity.
