Help with PIN Weight
So I just bought a 2020 F350 Diesel FX4 and a Jayco HT 28.5 RSTS. I took it down to the cat scales and came up with these numbers. Can someone check my math. I want to make sure I did this right.
TRUCK no TRAILER
GVWR 8020#
FRONT AXLE 4760#
REAR AXLE 3260#
TRUCK with TRAILER
FRONT AXLE 4800#
REAR AXLE 5120#
TRAILER AXLE 7640#
TRAILER TRUCK COMBINED 17560#
PIN WEIGHT = 1860#
TRALER WEIGHT 9460#

It's the pin weight that will get you, if, anything. I assume that's the empty weight, because it looks like the factory weight on mine.
So look at your yellow sticker on the doorjam for the GVWR. The Truck, and you, your passengers, cargo, hitch, and any weight on the hitch can't exceed that number. Right now you're at 9,920. If your GVWR is 11,000 , you have a thousand more pounds to play with. What is your yellow sticker GVWR?

MTR20,
This is what I get (check my math )......
TV 'only' scaled weight: 8,020lbs (not GVWR of TV)
TV GVWR: ??
Pin Weight: (4,800 + 5,120) - (4,760 + 3,260) = 1,900Lbs
FW Gross Weight: (17,560) - (4,760 + 3,260) = 9,540lbs

Thanks Cincinnati Not sure why I put GVWR in there. My GVWR 11400 and the 8020 was the weight of the truck. that was empty full tank only. wanted to see where I was at right now and work with right now numbers so I now how much more stuff I can take with me.
Bob I see what you did. I subtracted the loaded axle weight from the axle weight with out the trailer, was that wrong?

You should include the weight of both axles.

See where fyre hunter loaded in your numbers for you above? Notice that your pin weight came up to 19.9%? 20% of your trailer weight is a good number to guestimate your pin weight. That will help you estimate how much room you have to add stuff.
Let's say you max out your trailer someday, at 10,995# (that's what my 28.5 is, but check yours) That will put approximately 2200# on the pin. You have 11,400 total GVWR available. Your truck weighs 8,020 now, so that's 10,220 total used of your 11,400. ( If you max out your trailer) In that scenario, you could still add 1180# more of people, and cargo to your truck and be ok on GVWR. So you are way good on that. Just make sure you're not over on combined weight, (Which you probably can't do without going over your GVWR anyway) I would say you made a great choice on the 28.5, and the 350 weight-wise.
