Decided winter was finally over in NE and was itchy to start on the install of the roadmaster Base plate. I needed to remove the plow mount frame (that we just had installed in 10/21 when we bought it. It was a reasonably easy process.
The RM base plate instructions were exact for the JL.
Going to work on finish wiring connections and mounts for MH tomorrow.

Post some pics tomorrow

Ended up taking about 6 hours to uninstall plow frame and connecting Roadmaster base plates. A bit of a learning curve and i'm sure i'll cut the time in half next time.
Pic 1, bumper off, plow frame still on
pic 2, tools used
pic 3, tools, plow frame parts and base plates
pic 4, plow frame off, base plates installed
pic 5, installation complete
pic 6, testing wiring before deciding which 6 pin round connection i wanted to use( i got 1 with Rm tow bar and 1 with wiring harness) going to go with wiring harness because its pluggable where rm needs to be hard wired. Will make it easier to remove next winter.
All in all i had a good time with the project, but its definitely for the mechanically inclined with a decent amount of tools.
Going to break for a week or so before the install of Demco stay-in-play brake system.

Having a pit to work from makes a lot of difference. Don't have to crawl on your back too much. About pits, when I built my last pole barn I wanted to have the concrete guys put in a pit when they poured the floor. They said nope, they are illegal in Michigan now. So I had them leave a 5X10 section dirt where I poured the walls later and heavy metal cover.

Anyway, good job!

Thanks Hoop,
Yes the pit worked out great, came with my house i bought 25 years ago, first time i ever used it. I did the jeep light wiring without it and my back hurt for a week.

Thanks Captnjimk.
I have an Extreme Terrain front bumper with D-ring posts rated to 9000#.
Roadmaster sells adapters from their tow bar to the pins where the D-rings would be installed. Not pulled with D-rings, just connecting to tow bar to the same points.
Folks I've seen online seem to have no issues.

Hi,
Just got around to setting the demco duo braking system. I'm not that good at electrical and wiring, took me 6 hours with watching videos and such. All worked well first time.
Took the jeep ought for the first time yesterday (10 miles), everything worked great.
Going on a ÷50 mile trip in 2 weeks, hitting cat scales, let you know how I things go.

Headed out on Friday, loaded up for a month at a campground.
The Mh towed it np and the brake system in the jeep worked great.
Was a bit worried about weight as I pulled onto the scales.
Ended up being a little over 1k lbs under weight, with only 1 person
In rig at the time. Seems pretty good to me.
