Battery Connection question

We bought a used Kiwi 21c hybrid(Love it) but the battery was kind of disconnected and old when we got it. So there is a white wire connected to the neg terminal of the battery but the positive side had an inline fuse green wire but it was not connected to anything! ( may have torn). But I do not know what that green wire connected to? All I find is a set of the wires-all black that have been capped...
So when I get a new battery I need to get a new in line thing but what does it connect to?

Do you have a power tongue jack? Can you post some pictures? One of the black wires. It's likely the one with the fuse is probably the main 12Volt supply to the converter.

Are there any wires connected to the positive side of the battery?

No tongue power jack. The pic her is what I have minus the green inline fuse and wire that was broken.

I would trace those black wires and see where they go. You can also start at the converter and trace the positive wire out to the battery.

Thanks but

I’m not sure where the converter is and how will I know which one is the positive wire?

The converter is where your fuses and circuit breakers are. What year is your trailer? I will see what I can find for you.

2011 X19H here. Very similar setup. You will probably want to get an new battery for sure, and replace it with a deep cycle battery. That is a Marine starting battery, not as good for camping. If you boondock at all, consider upping to a group 27 battery (your is a group 24), slightly bigger battery box required (not expensive), but you will get a bit more run time off grid.

That green wire and fuse holder should connect to the wire nut with the black wires and then to the positive terminal on the battery. Wish I could give you a picture, but mine is buried in several feet of snow still. I expect if you pulled open that wire not you would find the broken end of the green fuse wire still in there.

No PTJ on your trailer to worry about - Kiwi didn't come with it and I can tell from the picture that one hasn't been added.

With a 21C you should also have electric trailer brakes. There should be a breakaway switch mounted nearby on the frame. The wire from this should also go directly to the positive terminal (not through any fuses!) If it is ever needed you don't want it fused - you want full power to the brakes on the trailer.

Thanks! 2003 Kiwi 21c

That makes sense! And you were correct! The remains of the green wire were under that nut! I will get a group 27, thanks for that suggestion.
I will check and confirm the trailer brake wire today!
