Bacteria in Antifreeze

Now that it is winterizing season for some people I thought I’d share my experience last year when I was adding the last of 3 gallons of pink antifreeze and saw grey/black things in the bottom of the bottle. I contacted the anti-freeze company and they agreed it was bacteria of some kind and would pay to get my RV flushed and re-winterized. The system was flushed twice before storage and once at the start of this season and we have not had a problem.
My suggestion is to inspect your antifreeze for “odd floating things” and buy a different brand if you see them. I do not feel compelled to name the company as they were very honest about the problem, paid immediately to fix the issue and were good to deal with. They believed it was a bad batch from their supplier. I continue to use the pink stuff but inspect it.

Thanks for posting. I would have never thought to even think in that direction...

x2 I have a gallon on the shelf in case I have to winterize. I'll check it out later.

I don't put the stuff in my fresh water lines, and I'll never drink anything that comes out of my camper anyway.
