Anyone have recommendation for a battery operated torque wrench. Got new tires and need to remove one but it took a breaker bar too loosen lug nuts. If on the road, I want to work fast.

Most owners manuals will require re-tightening lugs after 100-200 miles. So loosening with a good breaker bar is normal.

I carry a Craftsman, 1/2 drive, lithiom ion, cordless impact driver in my truck. I also carry the correct size impact sockets for the trailer and truck. Makes very quick work of the lug nuts without the need for a breaker bar. After a couple of hundred miles just retorque using the gun.

I've got a lot of Ridgid cordless tools, here's the 1/2 impact I carry with me. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ridgid-1...011B/301996008

I carry the big Dewalt cordless impact and a set of impact sockets. Between that my 4 way lug wrench and a plug kit and a Viaar compressor I’m hoping I’m covered for most things. I’ve often had people ask “but what if your batteries are dead?” I’m sure between my inverter in the camper, inverter in the truck, and my Honda generator that I can recharge a battery somehow.

I carry a breaker bar and torque wrench. I have the small impact driver that I use sometimes just to spin them on and off quicker. Even if I had a 1/2" battery gun I'd still carry the breaker bar.

Well, you're gunna get every brand named here but have friends with others and they always seem to be borrowing my Milwaukee 2763-20 M18 FUEL™ 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench delivers up to 700 ft-lbs of maximum fastening torque, up to 1,100 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque and up to 2X more runtime. We do a lot of offroading and this thing has removed nuts that others just couldn't touch. We had a transmission shaft nut that even a 3/4 drive pneumatic gun could remove and the Milwaukee spun it right off. Now I will also admit that I have tons of Milwaukee battery tools so obviously it is wise to choose one brand for the battery platform interchange. Over 30 year having a cabinet shop I went through all the brands, Makita, Dewalt, Porter Cable, and Milwaukee and everybody in the shop and lasting durability and battery life liked the Milwaukee best and Dewalt second...Makita just didnt last very long.

He said torque wrench not impact.
There is no such thing as a battery operated TORQUE wrench.

Well yes and no. They have digital torque wrenches and they are powered by a battery The OP said he wanted to make it quicker to remove lug nuts and it seemed that most realized what he meant.

Torque wrenches are not battery operated, if you mean impact wrenches see rustynuts post above.

Rusty nuts is right on about the Milwaukie... You should use a torque wrench for the inbound nuts .

Harbor Freight Impact
Harbor Freight has one - Pittsburgh Automotive.
Item # 92349. $24.99
I have one of these, and it works well. I was able to loosen lug nuts that I couldn’t break loose with a typical lug wrench supplied from the factory.

I carry the 3/8” Milwaukee Fuel Torque Wrench with the sockets for the wheel lugs. Chose 3/8 so I could use it on my Lippert level jacks if I ever have to operate one manually.

I don’t carry one since I wouldn’t have much use other than the lug nut removal. I do carry a long (25”) breaker bar from HF that I’ve used several times when servicing the brakes or bearings and when installing the wet bolts. Also, my cordless drill always seems to need a charge when I need it.

I hate to say this because you guys obviously love your impact wrenches, but if you need one to remove the lug nuts on a trailer, they're on too damn tight. Torque specs for a F-350 is only 150 ft lbs. A trailer will be much !ess, after all they're just coasting wheels. Use a torque wrench as recommended and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Whoa - I don't "need" an impact gun to remove and install lug nuts, it just speeds up the process - and with a little practice, after installing my lug nuts, a quick check with a torque wrench puts me within 10 ft lbs of factory spec on both my truck(s) and trailer - and you're right, I do love my impact gun.

My intent was not to insult anyone, I also have an impact wrench. Maybe you missed the point of the original post. The man said he got new tires, and needed a breaker bar to remove one of the tires. Tire shops are notorious for over torquing, and consequently stripping wheel studs. This shouldn't be the case, but unfortunately it is. When you're on the road and blow a tire, most times all you have is a lug wrench and a thousand cars whizzing by. Personally, I don't travel with a tire shop in my truck. I have to use what I have on hand.

I certainly didn't feel insulted or offended - I've never blown a tire, but have had my share of RV flats. Having towed RV's for over 30 years, I always carry a cordless impact gun and portable aluminum floor jack as part of my "be prepared" "kit". When I need to change a tire, I want to do it quickly (cars whizzing by) and as effortlessly as possible.
