Repair Questions

Hi Folks,

I have a quote of almost 2,000 dollars to fix the roof of my 12 year old Trailer. I am told that there is rot in roof over passenger side front. How important is this to fix? I will be fixing purely to sell the trailer, if I just re seal it to prevent further leakage and tell the new buyer about the rot I feel like there is going to be many years of life left in the trailer. I had a inspection done prior just so I could sell with confidence.

Also.. How hard is it to re seal the trailer? I feel like that is a huge expense to pay the dealership to do this if it is just standard caulking. (they said in quote to re seal using dicor)

thanks for the input!

Update

I went to the dealership today and thru discussion got the cost much lower. They won't fix the roof in summer anyway, they will only take it into the shop and fix it in the winter.

For now they will reseal the entire trailer and when I sell it, I will sell it with the disclaimer and the quote to have the rot fixed. The new buyer can decide if they wish to drop the money into fixing it.

Cheers,

If it was me I would not spend a cent on repairs that won't amount to much. Just let potential buyers know the scope of the damage and what its going to cost to repair.

If you are buying a new trailer, just use ol' Leaky for a trade in. Be honest with the dealer about the roof, no longer your problem.

Repair Questions

Have you blue booked the resale value on your 12 yr old trailer? I would be surprised if you get much money out of it. Are you the original owner? Has it been kept outside and not properly (annually) maintained? Doubt you will get enough out of it to justify any expense? Anyone buying a 12 yr old TT should expect problems

As long as you're being honest with the buyers I say sell it.
And props for being the honest guy!
