Servicing the Vent Hood on Condor 34 model

Hi, everyone,

We purchased this trailer and have done some work to it. But, we found out that the previous owners used a permanent water hookup, so they ripped out the water pump and pushed the switch inside of the vent hood (where the light, fan, test, and pump switches are located). I'm looking for information on the vent. Specifically, I'm looking for information on how to remove it from the cabinet that it's sitting under, so I can see if the switch is still there or not.

THank you for any information you might have.

Have a great night.
Patrick.

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!

Information on your trailer will be scarce due to its age. I did find a non-specific manual online, but that won't be of help to your question. The vent hood would've been added to the cabinetry when it was manufactured, so I can only assume it's screwed up to the bottom on the cabinet. I wish you much luck finding an answer, but information on a 31 year old unit will be a challenge.

That's kind of what I was afraid of. It looks like there are false bottoms in the cabinets (we've confirmed that on other cabinets). So, my guess is it was screwed into the real bottom (hopefully from the cabinet side down). I guess I was hoping someone knew how to pull the cover off of it, so we could work on it without tearing the entire cabinet apart.

Thank you for the help though.
Patrick.

Most have 4 screws from underneath into the cabinet. Easy to remove, remove the screws, a second set of hands to hold while you disconnect the wires after screws are out.

Welcome Aboard!

Can you post a few images of your hood, and any details of the cabinets around it. Without seeing how it is constructed and what is around it it is just a guessing game at the moment.

By chance does your TT have a microwave above the hood? If so, look at removing it, I have lots of wiring running between the two. Also, do you have a built in radio in the area? It to might be able to be removed to gain access.

Even the new TTs have hollow shelves. They are fairly easy to remove, just need to take your time. I have removed a few to added lighting and other electric items. You need a couple small crow bars. Go very slowly, do not try to pull the staples up in one area all at one time. Keep working your way around, just a little bit at a time, go back and try to pry them up just a little bit more. Go around multiple times. If you go to fast you will fracture the thin plywood. The shelf above my sink and the one above my dinette, I never did re-secured the inside shelf once I was done. Gravity holds it in place. Easy access if I ever need to make any future changes.
