Lightbulb 2017 Jayco Grey Hawk 29 ME

I just got my first ever RV and am going on a couple runs before I decide if I want to go full time or not. From everything I have read one of the first upgrades that is recommended is to switch the house batteries over to lithium.

So I have purchased the converter, BIM, and battery (battle born 100AH). Can anyone point me in the right direction for where the Converter and the BIM are located so that I can swap them out?

The owners manual is absolutely no help and the call center isn't either.

On my 2017 Greyhawk 29W the converter is under the bed. You have to unscrew the wood under the mattress. I ended up putting a piano hinge on that wood for easy access. Then I fabricated a shelf above the mass of electrical crap for pots and pan storage. Also added a gas strut to lift the wood.

Thank you so much. If you did solar then where did you add additional batteries? Trying to consider that as well.

I added a second battery in the compartment that is right next to the slide out battery. Put down a piece of wood to spread the battery weight out a bit. Cut vent and cable holes in the wall that led to the main battery. Also stuck the solar controller in the same compartment. Put battery disconnects on both batteries.

Having the battery in that compartment made it mostly impossible to check the battery water on the second battery. That was solved by adding a Flo-Rite dual battery water filler system.

The question is where "should" the BIM be located as you don't have one already. What takes the place of the BIM is the relay under the hood against the firewall almost directly in front of the steering wheel. You will want to install the BIM there and replace the existing relay with the BIM. ~CA

Do you have any before and after or at least after photos?

I don't have an 'after' since I didn't do it - but here's the relay location 'before':

I haven't installed one either, my plan is to install a dc2dc charger whenever I get around to doing so. It will tie in with the same cables as shown in PConroy's image above. A BIM will take the place of the relay, a dc2dc charger will have to be incorporated into the same connections as I plan to keep the relay for the aux start ability. ~CA

Will I lose the auxiliary start ability when I do this?

I don't know. Sorry - but again, I haven't done this
