Bauer Door Lock

We have a 2016 Greyhawk 29MV and today the inside pull handle of our Bauer Door Lock cracked on the bottom and a tool pin inside a piece of casting fell out. The door is presently opening on just the top connection. I will attach 2 photos to show the damage. Can anyone tell me if there is a glue or epoxy that can fuse together a piece of cast metal?
Tomorrow I will call Bauer also to see what they say about this. I would hate to buy an entire door lock just for this little fractured piece.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Jimmyd

I don't know of anything that'll be guaranteed to stand up to the force of the handle. You could try JB Weld, but it would be gray color, and pretty ugly. It would turn out better if you replaced it.

Call Bauer. I had an issue with my lock not opening with the key and the key getting stuck in the lock and they sent me a new lock. Very decent folks to talk to. The new lock arrived via FedEx 2 days later. With that being said my coach is under warranty but I'd still call.

Thanks JFlight that’s exactly what I thought. JPWeld makes good products but as you said the stress on that little pin would most likely crack again. Take care and stay safe. Jimmyd

Thank you EA37TS. I have Bauer’s phone info on my table for a call tomorrow. I’ll see what they say and report back. Stay safe. Jimmyd

Rob, for some reason I don’t think my PM’s are going back to you.
Spoke to Bauer and they are shipping today just an inner plate for a cost of $25. Plus freight. Very good company to deal with.
I would suggest saving your inner plate in case this happens to you as well. Not much holding that pivot pin in and lots of pressure on it when you pull open the door.
Safe travels, Jimmyd

Glad they are taking care of you, they were always very helpful when I needed something!

I'm on my 3'rd lock set from them. Junk. Have yet to get a set of batteries to last more than 3 weeks.

I wish they made one with a little solar panel to the right of it so it would constantly charge the batteries.

I have the Bauer EM Alsentis, I use Energizer lithium and they last a year with frequent use. When I change them out at the beginning of the camping season they still have continued life in my grandsons' game controllers. They are more costly, but we get our money's worth.

Give Bauer a call, maybe they can help. Can't hurt!

Call Bauer. I had an issue on my 2015 Grayhawk where the door lock would vibrate and unlock the door while driving. They sent me a new one with no charge. It's worth a try! If not, about $200 plus dollars for new one.

I spoke to Bauer yesterday and their service is excellent. They are sending me an inner mechanism only for a cost of $25. Sure beats the cost of an entire lock set.
Safe travels, Jimmyd

All Fixed Up

The Bauer inside lock set arrived yesterday by UPS. Today we drove back to where we left our coach last Friday and installed the inside handle. Works great and I decided to use blue loctite on all the screws including the screws in the door jam. Seems to be working much better than before.
Bauer reps were very pleasant to work with. Safe travels to all!

Jimmy, I wish you had called me. I have a total spare that you could have had. It has all of the parts and is a working touch button combo lock. Jayco sent me another one because this one ate batteries, otherwise it is all there and in good shape

The lock on my 2018 Greyhawk failed. My experience with them was not good the keypad buttons failed when pressed. I called Bauer and they said it's out of warranty (1 year) and that i would have to buy a new one for $269. The keypad itself cannot be replaced so I am stuck. I researched the reliability of this lock and it's not good. Many poor reviews and in some cases replaced several times with multiple failures. I guess i'll just use it with the key. No point in replacing an expensive piece of junk. Too bad they don't read the reviews and re-engineer this product or stand behind it.
