Camp ground water

The only thing I've ever seen are hoses split or tanks overfilling because someone forgot to turn the water off.

Like stated above, the only time I'd use the water pump is when the campground doesn't have good pressure. And, as for pressure worry, get a regualtor at walmart for $10.

What you are doing is very unusual.
Last year we were at a Corp of Engineers camp ground hooked up to their water with a regulator at 40 psi, stepped into the camper and found water all over the floor, never moved so fast, luckily no major problems, problem was the toilet water line broke, thank goodness for pix fittings, moral of the story, good idea to shut off when you leave.

Our prior motorhome had a similar experience... lucky for us, the bathroom in our prior Class C was in the back of the motorhome, and the leak that occurred was in the pipe under the bathtub that was in the farthest "rear drivers side" corner of the motorhome. A sharkbite fitting found it's way to suddenly leak while we were gone for a day-trip. It was right under the bathtub/shower and we came back to camp and found our site surrounding the motorhome was in standing water. Water was still running out along the back wall of the floor where it connected to the back wall, as fast as the city water connection to flow... Lucky for us, it did not have far to find a way to drain out onto the ground...

Sometimes you learn a lesson from others... sometimes you learn them on your own, AND some lessons you may not learn from at all. We do what we do to avoid having that bad experience again... Your mileage may vary... discontinue use if rash develops.

ours partially flooded last trip! Water pressure very high. We were using the regulator the RV dealer provided. Moving to a better regulator for sure. But it is possible.

Same here, as far as never having heard of flooding due to camp water. However, we hardly ever leave city water on. We fill and then use our own water pump like others have said, until we need to fill up again. We find we get better water pressure that way. And yeah, we use a pressure regulator at the spigot.

There is another fairly common failure point to consider, which is the toilet valve. If that begins to leak (usually a slow leak at first) then it may overflow your toilet while you are gone if the leak becomes substantial. If on city water your flood will be unlimited, but if on the water pump it will be limited to whatever is in your tank. That is still 65 gallons on my rig. I caught mine before it got bad, but it made me think and so now I shut off the water when I am going to be gone.

We also use on board water pressure and pump instead of "City Water" most of the time. Because of this, we always carry a spare water pump. In 5 years and 75,000 miles , I've replaced the water pump probably 3 times. I did relocate it, to make the change out easier.

Buy this one and hook it at the hose bib. You can set the pressure and it is very repeatable.

I have always used city water when available, but with a pressure restricter attached. On our 4th RV without any issues (and many a year)

I am also looking for an adjustable regulator, looked at the one in the Link, plus everyone other one listed on Amazon and quite a few had bad reviews and ALL were Made in China. All of Items I have seen with the Camco name are also MIC. I’ll keep looking.

Have used two 40 psi regulators since day 1. Always a chance one could stick open.
