It's like joining Sam's or BJ's. You "save" if you shop at CW. There are other side benefits. I belong.

It has worked for us, the more you travel especially out of area it does pay.

I've had it for about 15 years now and it does pay for itself. The campground discount alone pays for it plus the diesel discount and I'm good.

Takes anywhere from 5 to 10 buck off a night at campgrounds. And the ones that take Good sam discounts are usually very nice.

I wondered the same thing when I joined it. Just one week long stay a year pays for it.. I've been 3 to 4 times a year since I started camping again. I've Also saved some from camping world and from Pilot fuel stations. I don't have it but my father also has the break down towing (I have a different service). He's used It twice both times around home without the camper. Also paid for itself after just one use. Good piece of mind if you got a a big rig and go far from home. For me it's worth it. You also get use of route planning tools and full use of website. I use the campground locator app regularly.

We joined and it pays for itself. We also got a RV Plus card for Pilot's and Flying J's. We get a discount on diesel fuel and it's nice to be able to fill on both sides without turning the RV around.

Well I will be the other side of the coin, we joined, have ordered items from CW online, by far the slowest worst experience yet. I tried to reach out to them, no one ever answers the phone... Try for yourself.
As far as road service goes, just check out their sites forum, I will stick with Coachnet and AAA.
Now if your just looking for a discount if you walk into the store, campsites, and some fuel, go for it, just don't expect and support from them personally.

Good Sam....
Good Sam used to be a REALLY GREAT club... not so much after Camping World took it over. We are life members and use the Pilot fuel and propane discounts, and the 10 percent off at campgrounds. However, in my opinion, you can get better road service from AAA RV, and better campground discounts from AAA and KOA.
I no longer trust Camping World to do service (after a bad experience), and can get better prices from the eBay RV Stores than from CW.
So is it worth joining Good Sam... If you going to join a local Good Sam Chapter and participate in their events and go to the Samborees, then yes. The fellowship, fun, group camping outings, and get togethers are great. If you're not going to participate in those aspects of the club, then I would say no, isn't worth it.
What ever you decide, have fun and be safe!

Not having anything to do with Good Sam's, other than being a member, our results are the opposite of yours. We have been a member for 6 years and have not had a bad experience. We are now Life Members and feel that it was well worth the investment. Yes, we get discounts at Camping World, have used the roadside assistance, but not the extended service, tried that fora year and felt it wasn't worthwhile, and have never tried the program that offers you lodging and help with problems other than mechanical on the road. We've not purchased a unit from Camping World, but do stop at the stores as we travel. Great place to take a break and pick up items that you need or want to just look at. Are the prices the cheapest? No, but they are convenient. No disappointments, here.

We use it for discount stays at some CG's.

I've been researching campgrounds for my florida winter trip and it seems that none of them allow discounts from Good Sam or Passport America in the winter.
