Battery charging

Question, I have a 2011 Eagle super lite and I always ASSUMED that when I was plugged into shore power that the battery would be charging .. Is this true does anyone know, I just happened to check the battery today and it was Dead as dead could possibly be.. Evan though I was plugged into the shore, yes its possible the battery could be bad I'm just wondering does the battery charge while plugged in?
