Bedroom reading lights

Last night in the middle of the night one of our reading lights just came on. We cut it off only for it to come on again. It did this multiple times. The other reading light has done this before in the day but not at night. I finally got up and pulled the fuse. Anyone got any idea what could be causing this? We've had the camper over two years and use it a lot. It's just funny how both of them started doing this on this trip.

I would guess there is something wrong at/with the switch. Is it a push button or rocker switch?

It's the push button. These are the lights that if you push the button one time it turns on blue. If you hold it it turns to white light.

Yeah, I have those, as well. Haven't experienced that prob though. I would suspect the switch, for whatever reason, as I can't think of any other way the light would get power. I don't recall exactly how that switch looks. Is there a bezel nut that can be removed so the switch can be replaced?

Haven't dug into it yet. Did it last night and I had to be at a conference this morning. Was just wondering if anyone else had experienced it. Funny that both of them started doing it at the same time.

That is strange. Makes me think of headlights; one goes out, the other may go out soon, too.

If it's the dimmer switch like ours, it's a non mechanical photo electric switch and the bezel snaps off the base with a thin pry tool. There is a small light in the center and a sensor detects when the small hole is covered by your finger. I can imagine that something loose inside blocking the light stream or something as simple as cleaning the pinhole lens.

Our dealership replaced both of ours under warranty for something very similar. They would come on a tiny bit in the middle of the night. I imagine it was happening at other times, but it would have been hard to see outside of darkness.

I thought if it happened outside of warranty, I was going to change the switch out.

Thanks for the reply. I'm certainly outside the warranty. I may just replace the switch myself.

Mine did that on my side of the bed. I replaced it with the same light for around $5 on Amazon.

Yeah, probably easier to replace the whole thing instead of trying to locate that little switch alone.

And I want to say when I ordered the replacement light it was a 2-pack. So I have a spare now.

Curiosity got the better of me...I had to look up the light because the DW said we paid $25. She was right, but don't tell her I said that! But now they are $40 for the pair.

Mine look a little different than the ones you posted but I think I like the ones you posted better. Found these on Walmart site for 35. They are the same as the ones I have.
