Converter issues

Yeah I have a 2013 40' jayco eagle premier fifthwheel. I have two batteries and one of them was stemming really badly and starting to bulge, the other one seemed fine and tested good. I bought two new batteries, installed them and later that evening I could faintly hear them bubbling. I think my converter is over charging them. Can anyone give me some advise or has anyone had this problem with theirs or do I need to buy a new converter or maybe fix something on the one I have because it still works.

I would start with a good volt meter.

I assume that the two batteries are 12v wired in parallel with + to+ and the negatives are - to -.

Measure the voltage across each of the batteries, they should be the same. Isolate one battery at a time and record the voltages of both batteries, noting the battery connected to the converter each time.

Post them up here - for us to interpret.

I think that will happen if one is going bad or they are different ages too.

The logic board in the converter that senses charge level is fried. Change out the converter.

This is a typical charge chart using a good 'SMART MODE' CONVERTER/CHARGER' unit...

You can verify this by using a 12VDC Multimeter across the battery terminals while being charged...

When I got my NEW 2008 StarCraft 14RT back in 2009 my installed ELIXIR Industries Converter/charger unit only produced 13.6VDC and boiled out my battery fluids.

I replaced this unit with a Progressive Dynamic PD9260C 60 Amp SMART MODE Converter Charger unit that would automatically go into the modes shown on the charge chart...

An inexpensive 12VDC multimeter will tell your story connected to the battery terminals when charging...

I wanted to do OFF-ROAD camping which would require multiple 12V batteries so I really needed to purchase a higher amperage charge setup anyway...

Thanks for your quick replies. I'm going to get a new converter but I was wondering if you guys could tell me If a (Progressive Dynamics PD4590CSV Inteli-Power 4500 Series Replacement Converter Section - 90 Amp) would work in replacement of a PD4590K18NS2?
