We bought the unit out of state while visiting my dad so they wouldn't be the dealer we go to for service anyway. There is a nice dealer that does our warranty work in the city where we live - they didn't have the unit we wanted.

I gonna guess that there is more profit in the extended warranty than what they missed on the original pricing...just a guess
