My battery strap broke prior to my last trip. It was pretty questionable to start with. My 2 6v batteries are quite heavy and I’d imagine that strap wasn’t going to accomplish much. Do you all strap your batteries down or just rely on the weight and tight quarters to keep them in place.

I definitely keep mine strapped down. The metal shelf was only an inch'ish from the top of my GC batteries. The AGMs have more room, but I still don't want additional chaffing from the metal on the sides of the compartment.
Thanks. I’ll see what I can figure out. The one that came with it was really cheap. The plastic clip broke. Before that, the strap broke and I had to tie it. Currently I’m relying on their weight to keep them from moving vertically and some strategically placed pieces of wood to keep them laterally secure.

My strap broke years ago, as we we leaving on a trip. I grabbed a strand of black 14 garage wire I had in the shop. Been using it ever since. The wire is long, wrapped around the battery box and tray. Give the wires a twist. Tuck the long leads down and out of the way. Has lasted way longer than the plastic straps.

That might be OK with a plastic battery box. I wouldn't want to take chances with that cable sheath inside a metal battery box.
