Hitch question 2018 27.5 RLTS

My wife and I are looking at a 2018 Jayco 27.5 RLTS. My truck is a 2016 F250 4wd 6.2l v8 with a 6'-9" bed and no factory 5er prep pkg. I'm looking for info on the necessary hitch.

If I need a slider hitch I guess I would lean towards an auto slider. I would prefer not to go the slider route if not required. Does anyone have any experience with non slider hitches in this size truck? If so, what hitch are you using?

Thanks.

We have a B&W Companion non-slider in our ‘13 F350 SB. Our cap will contact the back of the cab during tight turns (learned this by breaking out the back glass). Still love the hitch and truck but now use caution when making tight turns. Our hitch uses the factory pucks and I’m a big fan of them.

Welcome to JOF! I have a slider and had to use it one time for those tight backing up, I rather have it and not use it than not have it and need it.

We use a Reese 15K slider hitch with a 6'9" bed. When I didn't use it on a tight turn I broke my $700 window. So go with the hitch and use it. Also, my hitch handle broke after seven years of a five year warranty. Reese sent me a new top. They are a good company.

We had a 2013 RLTS with F250 short bed and didn't have a problem with hitting cab with nose. My 2018 has the orbital hitch and I can turn past 90 degrees.

We have a 2017 F250, FX4, 6.2L, 6’9” bed. We use a 14k fixed hitch with the standard pin box on our 28.5 RSTS HT. We haven’t had any difficulties during the past year we have owned our set up. When we get home, I have to back the FW at a 110 degree angle from a narrow gravel road to park it beside the house. I can do it in one shot without coming close to hitting anything. When at unfamiliar campgrounds I just pay close attention to what I’m doing. Pleased so far.

Pullrite auto slider..............you won't but out a window if you forget to activate the slider on any other hitch.
