Install slide topper 27.5
I have purchased two Solera slide toppers for our 2017 27.5 RKDS. I have installed a slide topper on our previous TT without issue.
Here's the problem with the 27.5 RKDS: The "wardrobe" slide has a flange that measures 6" tall. The Solera instructions want you to mount the "hex" bracket below the flange which is the problem. The bracket is not tall enough to keep the awning material from touching the top of the flange. I think the brackets are built for the standard 4-1/2" flanges.
My only choice is to mount the bracket to the flange. The other slide will be fine since it has a 4-1/2" flange.
Anybody else run into this issue?

Your thread is getting numerous 'views'.
I wonder if there are any JOF members that had a topper installed on the "wardrobe" slide of a 27.5 RKDS that could post a pic of the mounting?
Maybe Solera could offer some guidance..., wonder if there is a different bracket for the taller flanges?
I agree, mounting off the flange alone isn't the most robust mounting surface.

Solera is now owned by Lippert. I called them yesterday and they didn't have any other brackets. Mounting to the flange is not really a problem since the screws, for the bracket, would still go into the slide and not protrude out the other side of the flange.

My concern would be if the flange can handle the weight/stress. I know on my trailer the flanges don't seem all that strong and/or mounted securely.

We have the same unit only 2018 and had to mount the slide topper bracket on the bottom of the flange. You are correct that the screws actually mount in the slide and do not protrude out the other side. It is the only option and ours seems very secure. Our toppers are Dometic.

Thanks drawyma, that's what I was looking for. However, I decided to make an extension bracket that put the hex bracket up higher and still allows the attachment to be "like the instructions".

Just a clarification. My wife is correct in that we installed our Dometic Elite bedroom slide topper on the flange, for the exact reason you described, but we have a 2018 293RKDS. While the model is not the same I suspect the solution likely is. We did install technically on the flange trim but not on the flange as the large flange trim extends into the body of the slide such that support is no issue. In fact I felt my self tapping screws got even a better bite and were more secure on that installation than were the ones on my main slide. In fact I had to pre-drill to drive them home. Good luck

I took the rain gutter off. Installed the rail in that area, if I recall just a little above where the gutter was as that gave me a nice angle for rain water runoff. When I was done I installed the gutter above the topper. Sorry no pics but I could post a couple tomorrow if you’d like.

Only 5 screws in that rain gutter. Then run a razor knife down the back edge of the gutter to cut the sealant and off it comes.

FYI I highly recommend butyl tape. Also I have a tip for mounting your rail so that it’s very straight.

Simple really. The problem is those rails are pretty flimsy so they can be a pain to mount. Once you figure out the mounting location of the bottom edge of your rail, close your slide and measure the distance from the top slide edge of the slide to where the bottom edge of the rail will be mounted. For me 4” gave me what I guessed would be a nice slope to my topper. I then took a few 1x4’s and set them on the top edge of my closed slide. I taped them so they wouldn’t fall. Then it was a simple matter to lay my butyl backed rail on top of my 1”x4” spacer and mount the rail straight as an arrow.
