North Point tow vehicles

Who out there is towing a North Point with a 3500/F350 single rear wheel? Please indicate North Point model and if there is a washer/dryer installed in the bedroom.

Thanks
Dave

2018 NP FLWS with W/D in rear & generator w/3 40lb LP tanks. Had a 2012 F350 4x4 Super Crew short bed, w/6.7 power stroke and rear air bags. Pulled RV just fine. Was a little attention getting in windy conditions, uneven pavement and being passed or passing tractor trailers. Currently have a 2019 F450 KR and just set it on cruise at 75 (when your in TX) and never know your 5er is behind you. Doing a lot of distance trailering is worth having Dually

We tow a 315RLTS with an F350 SRW. We have a 3300 lb payload capacity and are overweight even without a washer/dryer or generator.

I pulled our North Point with a RAM 3500 SRW...........after a few months decided to go with a DRW.............huge difference. When you get into the North Point, Pinnacle range IMHO you need a DRW.

Visit your local truck shop that specializes in rear springs. I have had my F-250 truck's rear suspension restructured (leaf's/Timbrens) and it tows great. Although it doesn't have the top overload spring as in the SRW F-350 it still has the 6.7 (all the power you need) as in all the super duty line up. I have safely towed my 2017 NP 381 for 10k and yes it has the washer and dryer in it.

As a Ford man for many years, if ever in question always upgrade.

Please list your specific questions on what you are looking for or to do?

IMHO, when you get north of 13,000# you are on the doorstep of dually country.
That said, I met a fellow towing 16k# toyhauler with an F150. “Air bags to level it out, tows great!” He also leased the TV and gets a new one every few years. Would hate to look in the rear view to see him coming up behind me.

I originally towed our 377 with a Ram 2500 with airbags for the 1st year...then I went to a dually and it's been the best decision I ever made!

Towing a 2017 315RLTS with a 2017 F350 SRW CCSB.
We do have a washer/dryer.

I leveled my truck by lowering the rear end.

Added air bags to leave when towing.

Everything tows very well. It has plenty of power and rides quite well.
I do have many upgrades. Just can't help myself

I guess I don't understand. Why lower it and then add air bags to raise it back up? Just curious. Seems like a lot of $$.

I think a leveled truck just looks better. Most people level by raising the front. These trucks are just too high already especially for towing. The couple of inches lower on the back makes it a little easier to get in and out.

2017 Northpoint 375BHFS. No washer/dryer, but I have enough crap in the front to make up the weight of a washer/dryer. Tow vehicle is a 2015 Duramax 3500 crew dually longbed. 5er came with a Moryde pin box from the factory and I have a B&W for a hitch. Tows very nice. Entire rig sits pretty level and I have about 5.5" of clearance between the coach and the bedrails.

Hi Don and Donna

Specifics would be, we have a 2014 Ram 3500 with a payload capacity of 3990 and GAWR Rear of 7000. We'll be picking up a new North Point 315RLTS in a few days. Advertised dry pin 2735. We were towing a Montana. I plan to eliminate a few heavier items in the basement and will have nothing in the generator compartment. Only a house battery up front. I will be weighing at CAT scales after picking up the unit. That's when we'll have a better idea of where we stand. This is our daily driver and we really don't want to go dually. I am considering air bags for leveling purposes and know that design capacities won't change. I don't know how the 2020 trucks compare for capacities, but maybe a little higher in SRW.

Thanks for all the responses and guidance.
Dave

The 2020 chevy 3500 SRW tows 21,500lbs in crew cab short box. Have not found the payload yet. But it has to gone up also.

I assume the Rams have gone up also.

During your PDI check everything. The Dealer has had ours for a total of eight months over a year. Don't believe they check. Fill all the waste tanks up into shoqer, sink and toilet. Wait overnight to see if they fall. Two of ours failed. Now we know where the big stinky came from.

You may be close on your rear GAWR. Might depend on what hitch you'll be using and how much in passengers and other cargo. My rear GAWR is 7230. Here's my CAT slip as an FYI.

We have been full timing for 10yrs now, talked to many, at many campfires. Although several complaints on the choice of RV, never heard complaints of what the newer 6.7 (vs 6.0 no go) can and will do. Many will boast of their dually and many will complain parking them too. Two rules of living the "New Life"

1) Air bags will allow a easier ride when not towing but will fail (insert Murphy's Law here).
2) White knuckle driving will cause premature grey, wear out your brakes way too early, and provide lower than expected gas mileage.

May your RPMs stay below 1500 and your speed never need to reach above 60.

As we say in the Navy - Steady as she goes mate.

Dave, attached is my CAT Scale slip from when I had my 2018 North Point 315RLTS, towing with a 2017 RAM 3500 SRW. Same GAWR of 7,000 pounds. My drive axle weight without a washer/dryer and not even generator prep came in at 6,960 pounds. Only left me with 140 pounds. As soon as I got home from that trip, I traded my SRW in for a DRW. Now with the Pinnacle & the DRW, no washer/dryer or generator prep, my drive axle weight with the Pinnacle is 7,900.........that includes a full 40 gallon auxiliary fuel tank. 1,650# to spare.

x2 Don, I very seldom go over 60 unless passing, but with a 4.10 rear end, I can't keep my RPMs under 1750 at 60 mph
