Power cord storage

I have a 50 amp power cord for my 2017 317rlok. I’m tired of having no real storage for the cord. Been just putting it in the bed of the truck. Any good ideas for storage? My under storage is fairly full but if I need to for some type of reel I could make room I think. Thanks

Hi Jasonc,
I purchased a reel away from etrailer for about 115 and it is perfect. I've mounted in the basement. Keeps the cord nice and tidy. Etrailer is great to work with.

I bought the same one as Shokyle after hand coiling for abt a year. It was difficult in good weather, when it got cold it was like pushing a mule up a ladder while calming a hungry tiger and performing brain surgery on myself with a dirty spoon.
I view this mod as the single best thing I’ve done to the 5th.
The 5th came with a paper towel roller in a convenient location and when winding the cord I grab a couple to wipe off whatever is on the cord as I roll it in.

Our RV came with a 50amp cord, but only one A/C (wired for 2). Others may be in the same situation.

I purchased a 30amp cord and leave the 50 at home, so much easier to handle. About half the time I just use a 20amp cord.

I’ll admit that the 50 is a great cord when using the one A/C, microwave, coffee maker, fridge and electric water heater all at the same time. Or I just manage the power usage. Now I just take the 50 when needed, which is not much.

Meanwhile, I’m drawing plans up for a wooden box with vertical slots to slide my cords and hoses into so they are all standing up rather than laying flat. Kinda like some homes have for the oven pans if that make sense. Ill put a couple of slot handles on it so I can slide the whole box out if needed. I’ll post pic’s when I get it done.

I wish I could get away with a 30 amp. With the wife there is no way. She thinks she can run the ac, the microwave, a coffee pot, toaster and ice maker all at the same time. It’s a challenge even with a 50 amp service at times. Haha

We purchased this air hose reel from Harbor Freight for cheap monies! Installed it in the basement and it works great for holding the monster 50 amp cord.

I hadn’t thought of that and I’ve even got one in the garage holding my air hose. Great idea!

Just installed my in laws in their fifth wheel. With mine you have to bend over and reach in.A bit of an annoyance. In the eagle ht there is not a lot of vertical space when reaching in. So on theirs I made a box so It could be mounted as close to the door opening as possible. I will be changing mine shortly. By the way I really like the harbor freight reel idea much cheaper and may be stealing this for my water hoses.

When you mounted it to the floor did you just screw it down to the floor or used nuts and bolts? And if you screwed it does it seem pretty stable?

Probably used size #14 or 16, 3/4" or 1" Philips head screws with flat washers. Screwed the base directly to the floor. Very stable and secure!
