screen door plastic piece broke

The plastic strip in the screen door of our 321RSTS cracked, and not sure how to fix it. The piece holds the screen in place in the center section, and is covered when the plastic slide is open to allow access to the outside door handle from inside the camper (sorry if I am doing a poor job of describing). The issue is then the outer door open, the crack in the plastic strip holding the screen in place) allows for a gap and bugs get in.

Has anyone come up with a better way to secure this piece? It seems plastic is not the best choice, but you need something that is not too thick (so it won't interfere with the outside door and the slide to access the outside door) and strong enough do it won't break. I thought about getting a thin strip of metal and attaching it to the screen door and the plastic strip, but not sure how that would work (would probably need to out it on both sides, like a splint. That I would check with the group first.

I appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

Can you post a picture of the piece. I think I know what your talking about. On my TT, it is aluminum and riveted to the vertical section. But a picture would really help

Is it the part that slides?

no. It is the plastic strip that holds the screen, halfway across the door. It is a fixed piece that just holds the screen in place

With the screen threaded into it and then “pins” that fit into the upper and lower tracks, that seems like a hard thing to fabricate unless you have some real skills. Did you try contacting JAYCO or your dealer for an OEM replacement?
