Secret Compartment ?

I am writing to see if anyone has found why the end pieces (see photo) on either side of my couch look like wasted space - could be used for storage!

Considering you have outlets and plugs there not sure how much storage you would get.

BTW, it's not a secret anymore.

With some creative craftmanship, you could have a secret compartment.

Add a hinge to the top piece or front piece and there you go.

New secret compartment.

They are for cats, of course. Especially on moving day. They JUST KNOW.

Ask me how I know that they are near impossible to remove without unmounting the sofa from the floor.

Two of our cats have spent several moving days in those things and they seem to fare OK. Then we are up front in the truck and when we drive over expansion joints in the road, we scream "Hang on Salty! Hang on Seaweed!"

It is faster to run the wires that are in big wide open spaces. If your handy, I bet can make a good access point. Maybe from the top, or maybe relocate the outlets, on top and in back. I can guarantee you, if that was my unit, it would be turned into a magazine rack.

Start snooping. Jayco does not glue these cabinets in, so there is a few screw holding to the floor/wall. May have to move the sofa to get to them. Once it you can see the guts, you can make plans.
