Truck Tire step?
I am not even sure that is what they would be called, but an over the tire step is what I am thinking of. I was wondering if some kind of tire step would make checking my Andersen Hitch a little easier. Anyone use one of these? Any recommendations on brand/model? Not looking to break the bank. The truck has the tailgate step, but you cannot use that when hitched.
Thanks in advance!

I have the same one. Never use it. A friend told me I needed one when I bought my first diesel.

I purchased one because with a dually it's really needed to reach in to secure the hitch lock handle, etc. Wouldn't leave home without it! Bought mine from Amazon for a little over $33.00

I just use one of those plastic fold up step stool and it’s useful in the rig or outside the rig also. Just collapse it and toss under the rear seats.

Way too many years of military abuse to the body, at this point.
I used to chuckle about the tailgate step, too. Now I wouldn't own a truck without one. Karma I guess...

I've rolled my ankle more than once stepping up and then down off the tire and reaching over the side of the bed to get something. I make a point to always use my tailgate step and handle now, one of the best features on a truck, especially when lifted.
There are retractable side steps that come on some of the Fords I've seen. Looks like they would work well but I don't like the look of them.

I do the same but with getting older and more aches and pains at some point something like this may be in order.

I used to just step on the tire but if you're wearing long pants you're bound to get a little road grime on them!

I use a two-step aluminum ladder that slips on the far side of the fifth wheel hitch. Lite, easy but stored away from the jaw lever.

I had to cancel a customer meeting one day, because I ripped the seat out of my slacks. Maybe that should have been my lesson.

Got this one from Amazon a while back. I don't have to worry about slipping off the tire! Folds flat and stores in the toolbox.

I step on the tire to reach for stuff in the bod but I don't need to do that to reach the hitch release. I used the tailgate step when I had the Ford but I got rid of the stupid stripper pole and put a flat tailgate liner on. The GM bumper corner step is more useful.

I still use the tire/wheel to get into the bed of my Dodge. I could use one of those tire steps for when I have to work on my Excursion! That thing sits high and not much in the way of places to step!! Have to look at the adjustable one from Amazon!

Never considered any type of step. I went with the wheel to wheel runner boards. Much safer and I never leave them at home nor have to pick them up, or fold them or do anything with them at all. If I have my truck, I have my easy path to the inside of my truck bed. Just sayin' SKIDAWG
