Why you should give Sailun tires a try

Hey er'body, I finally took the 365bhs,40'fifthwheel, on a weekend camping trip with the new S637's on it. Let me tell ya, these tires were awesome. The camper towed soo smoothly at 100 psi and all of the chucking is gone. I even picked up just overy 1 mpg bringing my mpg to 13 at 65mph in a 2012 f250 6.7 diesel. I use a standard pin box and had no chucking at all. I had a good friend of mine, a senior tech at Camping world Concord, tell me that the chucking was caused by my previous marathon tires but I didn't believe him. I wI'll say do not trust the marathons, the set that was on my camper were on there for two years,I saw the receipt, and still looked new but one had a twisted belt in the tread. Man was he right, night and day difference. I was going to buy G614's and I am sure they are just as good but they were $1400.00 for four of those vs 780.00 for 5 of the S637's. My tire size is 235 80 16 and I am running the T02 wheels with clamp in valve stems.

I've had my sailun tires for about 2 years now. Totally agree these tires are great.

I had these on my old BigHorn 5th wheel...I will totally agree that these tires are some of the best out there.

You won't miss the money but you will love the tires. The bead bungle is massive, my neighbor (a world class tech with chevrolet), looked at them and said they looked like a miniature semi truck tire because of the beefiness and the design. There is absolutely no comparison between the marathons and these if you put them side by side off of the wheels. I have to thank Magnolia Tom and other members on here for convincing me to give the Sailuns a look, glad I wasn't stubborn this time for sure!

I finally got around to replacing the Rainier tires on the 2017 North Point 377 RLBH on Feb 16. We went 8,900 miles on the factory Rainers without any trouble, except noticeable cupping on the outside tread on front axle. We've now towed 1,970 miles on the new S637 Sailun ST235/85R16 load range G. Due to our max GVWR of 16,500 lbs, I had them put 85 psi in all four tires, using the proper weight to max pressure formula. On highway, they get up to 98 psi according to my Tire Minder TPMS monitor. I must say, they do tow much smoother, but however, we got on some rough parts of SC Interstate 26, and nothing will stop the moderate chucking we experienced. Many sections of concrete were replaced with 'white' new patches where sections were not flush. Overall, I'm pleased with these tires. $600.97 from Crawfordville Tire & Auto, FL. They did not have metal tire stems, nor could they balance the tires due to their lower weight tire balancer.

Where did you end up buying your S637 Sailun ST235/85R16 load range G tires from?

You'll need to get the metal clamp in stems put in,I read online several people had the rubber hp stems actually blow out. The highest pressure available for any rubber pop in stem is 80psi. Check with schrader, the premier source for valve stem information.

Crawfordville Tire & Auto, in Crawfordville, FL. They ordered the tires from a nearby supplier a week in advance and it came in on a truck (late) the date of scheduled installation. I showed up for my appt and the tires were not there yet. These guys are not able to handle G rated tires very well. They couldn't spin balance them on their machine due to the excess weight.

3 weeks ahead of my installation, and in person, I asked the manager there, in addition to the S637's, that I get metal valve stems, balancing, and to have all the necessary items delivered ahead of my specific show up date...and here's my Discover card. A week ahead, my wife insisted I call them to make sure they have everything in order. They dropped the ball. The tires got ordered on that call, as the invoice got lost. That day, our plans to get to our destination got delayed over 2 hours. They dropped the ball again and didn't have metal valve stems and yet assured me they never had any problems with rubber valve stems, even at 110 psi. My tires get 85 psi cold, and build up to 98-99 psi hot. So far after almost 2000 miles, everything is ok.

I would advise you to consider changing out the valve stems. They can be purchased at any auto store for just a couple bucks apiece.

I bought a dozen and carried them to the tire store with me.

I bought 2-two packs of clamp in stems at Autozone for $5.99 per pack. The back says they're rated at 150 psi I believe. But depending on what wheel you have you may have to make a socket to put the clamp in valve stems in with. I took an old craftsman socket and used a grinder to grind it down so it would fit in the hole of the aluminum wheel. Plus I purchased a TPMS and the sensors screw onto the valve stems and they need to be secure.

Thanks norty. The thicker rubber snap-in base .453" with a metal barrel ones that are on there are indeed 80 psi max cold. So that means another 12-15 psi as the tire heats up, and I'm about 5 psi over at 85 psi cold. Plus, over time that'll go down from permeation. At any rate I wanna be safe, so i just reserved 4 1" tall metal stems at napaonline and will pick them up tomorrow. Now I've got to see if Camping World near Asheville NC can install them on Fri when we leave here. I'm hoping they can balance them too with stick on weights. I also have Tire Minder sensors on and that definitely gives me POM.

Sailun S637 treadwear

Ok, I finally got the metal valve stem's installed in the factory rims last month at a Walmart in Fort Wayne IN, and have increased the pressure to 105 psi in all four tires just before towing the North Point to Jayco Service center for warranty service. We get it back to Ft Wayne and now has been 4 weeks since and roughly 190 miles and I'm noticing a strange inner and outer edge wear pattern on all the tires.

The tires were at 85 psi for the first few thousand miles and treadwear was consistent and flat on the edges. Now after the pressure increase, it appears the middle tread has ballooned outward showing a 'ramp' on all edges. In other words, the edges no long touch the road. The tires now have approx 15k miles. Anyone else showing this symptom with over 100 psi? Is this normal?

No, that doesn't look normal to me. I run mine at 110 psi, and they get to 120-125 while driving and mine still look brand new after a couple years

Looks like the edges wore out due to under inflation to me, but I can't be sure from the pics.

Those of you running sailuns, did you get new wheels to run these pressures? I'll be jumping up from 15s so will need new anyway, seems all I can find rated to match the tires load and pressure ratings are steelies.
