The prewired on the 212qb. Is the power on all the time or just when hooked up to the tow vehicle

Not sure on your model. On my 2018 29.5 bhds ht it only powers on with the marker lights

Just when hooked up to the tow vehicle, and running lights are on.

Mines the same only on with the clearance light on. Factory prewired tap of the rear clearance lights.

Using the normal hookup the camera is only on when the marker lights are on.

There are instructions on using an alternate power line that's already run that goes into the switch panel so you can add a switch to power it on.

That's meant to be used if you want to use the camera as an observation camera while you're parked in your spot.

At least that's what I read in the installation instructions that someone posted online. I just used the normal hookup to be used while attached to the tow vehicle.

Thanks to all the answers. Installed a haloview mc7108 and it works great.
