Cargo rack mounted on bumper or frame?

Hello all, I need to install a cargo rack on the back of my 2015 Eagle 314 TSBH travel trailer. I've been looking into mounting a receiver on the bumper but sounds like it will not be able to carry much weight. I would like to mount the rack directly to the frame so I can put my Honda eu3000 generator on it. Does anyone know where I can purchase a frame mounted rack for my trailer? Thanks

I went to a welding shop and they welded square bar to my frame and extended them far enough to mount a custom cargo rack. Had the cargo rack built for the width of the bars and have a great rack for storing stuff. Only cost a couple hundred bucks total.

I did the same for my receiver hitch for my bike rack. Don't attach anything to the bumper, weld to the frame.

I been looking into this company so I can carry a 3500 watt gen set on the back of my 145RB I don't want the gas smell in the SUV. I like the reinforcement brackets and the receiver hitch mount. The tray is nice but I like The Harbor Freight Mobility carrier with the ramp. Its wide enough to accommodate a 3.5 generator and you can push it up the ramp instead of lifting a 100 pounds. depending on the wheel size it may require some additional slates or just deck over the ramp with a piece of plywood. while I not "old" yet I'm starting to realize that after the 30th anniversary of my 25th birthday I need to work smarter not harder.

I ordered mine with the class 3 hitch, still only rated for 300 lbs so I may weld it to the frame.

I also had a 2" receiver hitch welded to my frame. They added gusset plates, to reinforce the attachment points. It's been rock solid. I can mount various things this way.

There's an article in this month's Trailer Life magazine about securing a cargo carrying tray to the rear bumper of RV's. It's titled Securely Behind, but I'm not finding it on their website. Might be worth your time to read.

Thanks everyone, I'm leaning towards having a custom frame mounted rack made for my trailer. I would hate to arrive at a campground only to find out my $2000 Honda generator bailed out somewhere along the route.

Sounds like a good plan. Please post some pictures when complete.

Happy camping.
