Is this the latest "undercoating" sham? Personally, I would not trust it. If you want to care for your RV exterior, keep it clean and use a good wax or protectant like 303.

I’ve not heard of it and it wasn’t offered when we bought ours. But I would steer clear of any “added services” like that. Even if they are beneficial, you likely could do it yourself or have an aftermarket business do it far cheaper. I’d say “no thanks.”

It’s pretty remarkable if done right on a car. Don’t know that I’d pay for it on a travel trailer or FW. Also, it’s temporary.

Ceramic Coating

I’m not sure if mine was the ceramic or something else. It lasted a few weeks and then I started shopping for a good wax. Ended up with 303. Works great. Don’t waste your money on whatever they are offering. If you need to, take it to a good detail shop and get a “wax on, wax off” not a “dealer spray on and let the first rain wash it off”.

(I also agree, a great ceramic hand detail on a car is amazing, but they don’t just spray it on, it’s buffed to perfection.)

The answer is “do what brings you comfort and piece of mind”. The coating is called Duratain. Modern RVs are not built or sealed very well. Duratain as a product is very well reviewed. I have NEVER done anything like that on a new car, but when you spend that first 4-5 hours with your new RV, you will think “maybe the Duratain is a good idea….” I bought the coating without question and I am happy with the results, because F it if I am going to wax an entire RV. MOST important thing when getting your new RV is to use the PDI checklist that you can find on this site.
