I have a new Westinghouse iGen 4500 portable generator. Should I start it up first then plug in my 30 amp cord or plug in the cord first then start it up?

Start it up and warm it up for about 5 minutes, plug in the trailer. The generators usually need a warmup if you are going to put a big load on it like A/C. Otherwise, just start and go if you need lights, etc...
Built in Generators usually use a 30 second delay after starting before transferring power, If you have a main breaker, keep it plugged in with the breaker off, let it warm up a minute at least before you put a heavy load on it.
I did the break in period thing. Ran it for 2 hours with no load. I never plug up to shore power with anything in the TT turned on (a/c, etc) so I won't with the generator either.
Thanks for the responses.
