led light strip for tail, turn and brake light

I tow a small flatbed trailer for my riding tractor, etc. and think the tail lights are lacking. I purchased a led light strip and mounted it on the back to make it a little safer. They are designed for the back of pickups and have led's that light up for turn signals, brakes, etc.
I bought this one on Amazon.

Wiipro Universal 60 Inches Red/White Tailgate Rigid LED Strips Light Bar Reverse Parking Brake Turn Signal Lights for Pickup Trucks

Now I think I may add one to the back of my 195SLX to increase my likelihood of being rear ended.

Anybody try this? Is there a down side I haven't seen?

I would mount it at the same height as my current tail lights.

I have been considering something similar. My thought is to mount it to the square bumper. Maybe in a U-Channel for protection. I have been looking for a longer version or two half lengths. I also found a 60" version that has three rows of lights; red running/break lights, yellow turning, white backup lights. It is a single strip. What I would like is something that reaches to both outside edges of the bumper.

Another item I have seen on semi trucks, a small rubber marker light that sticks out from the side of the truck/trailer. I have not found any that I have liked or would attached nicely.

Good luck, make sure t post a few images.

There was a member on the FR forum that did this, but he mounted 2 vertical strips on the back of the rv, 1 each side. Was just the running and brake lights, but turned out nice.

Roger,

I mounted one of those on my utility trailer. Half works now after maybe about 5-6yrs (don't recall for sure how long).

I did mount it with a piece of angle iron covering the top side of it to help protect it. That way if I take the ramp gate off or have a fork lift load a pallet of whatever on the trailer it is protected.

Have considered it for the tt, but would probably lean toward the 12"-15" long tail/brake lights, mounting one on each side. My thought is they are better sealed from moisture than the full width truck tailgate strips. This is also the possible replacement route I will go for the utility trailer when I get to it.

Led light are cool and bright but I seen study that said they are more prone to rear end collision. Driver miss judge the distance when they see the super bright led brake lights. I have the red police flashing lights on my motorcycle and 6" Brake Turn Signal Lights on the sides. I would do the lights to look cool but I can't prevent people from ramming my rear end.

OOOPs, furst mistak I never maked.

I have been behind RV's in rain, night or dusk and found that there tail lights are just not bright enough. They don't give me a feeling of comfort that I won't be rear ended if mine are like others I have seen.

One way is to change to brighter LEDs or to maybe to add something like a rear light strip.

Heres an idea.

Get 2 tailgate strips on ebay. Cheap. Brake, backup, turn.

Mount each one vertically on the left and right sides.
