Memory foam mattresses
I have been looking for a short queen memory foam mattress.
After quite a bit of research I found the Zinus 8 Inch Gel-Infused Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress, Short Queen for $220 on Amazon. Has a lot of likes and few dislikes. Also, at 50 lbs. it is not to heavy.
Since I like firm and she likes soft my question to anyone who has one is do you like it and which firmness is it.
In any case, anything including my inflatable backpacking mattress would be better. LOL

Memory Foam Mattress
You can't have it both ways. I have a Zinus 12" in my unit and both the wife and I like it. I recommend a 10 or 12". If I recall I paid $320 for ours on Amazon. Good luck either way.

I was hoping to use the 8 inch as it weights less and would be easier to make up on my unit. Did you try the thinner model? Why do think a 10 or 12 is better?
thanks!

We have this one and love it! My husband likes a firm mattress - which this one is -- I can sleep on anything. If your wife likes a soft mattress then maybe go with a sleep number bed so you can both be happy!

We bought a Dynasty Mattress Deluxe from Amazon in 2013. However, I notice it's no longer available from Amazon. It is 10" thick. 3" of HD memory foam, 2" + 2" of dual state of the art air flow to keep mattress cool, and 3" HD polyurethane support base. It was $349 at the time.
We got it for our old Koala, and we'll be moving it to our soon to pick up, 2017 Jayco 23RB.

We bought a Serenia 8" memory foam mattress from Amazon. My wives first impression was that it was too firm for her. After using it, she fell in love with it. Said that it conformed to her body much better then any mattress we've ever had! Apparently the same mattress that DebKen had bought!!

Why is it so hard to find out how much a mattress weighs? The salesman or web sites don't often have that info available without some digging.
In a rv it matters. Our home mattress is so heavy that 2 men have a hard time delivering it. In a rv, the bed could not be tilted up.

We have the Zinus 8" mattress and we love it. Huge difference over the factory mattress. We were not disappointed..

After reading all the reviews about how awful the mattress is, I was about ready to get the foam mattress. But instead, I found a 4-in topper with pillow top at Sam's club. We have a hybrid at home; this way this will be a kind of hybrid as well, using the native bed as a base.

Good Luck Misty. We tried the topper method. Because the mattress was so lousy and actually got a hole in the middle with no stuffing the topper method did not work because the base is so lacking.
We got a 10 inch Sleep Master Memory Foam Mattress and it seems to be fine.. We have had some seven weeks on it. Maybe there are others that would be cooler but so we usually never need air conditioning. We are camping this week with yes.. fleece.. High around 55.

I am 5'3" and not very strong. I was able to lift our new mattress to get it into the camper. It comes rolled in plastic and inside a box. Once you get it onto the bed you cut the plastic open and it unrolls and expands. We have bed lifters on our bed and I am able to lift it up and it stays up until I push it down.

I put a Brentwood home 11" memory gel regular queen on the bed platform of my 2016 jay flight 38fdds. I replaced the regular queen Denver mattress. I don't know what the new one weighs, but it's been fine on the plywood platform. It's been there over a year now.

It is difficult to bring softness and firmness on the same mattress. You could use either soft or firm mattress. If you are looking for both soft and firm quality mattress, then buy a waterbed chambers. You can order it with different degree of fiber filling according to your preference. You can add a soft topper to the fitted sheet to make the mattress softer. Yet another method(not a good option) is to buy two single bed and place it adjacently over a king frame.

I bought a 3" think memory foam pad off of Amazon for about $90 and placed it on top of my OEM Denver mattress and it was very comfortable. Of course the mattress was like new condition. I had used it on a 2006 Jayco OEM mattress and it made a world of difference on the comfort there too.

I've slept on the Zinus as well as the comparable priced Lucid memory foam mattress. I liked the Zinus a little better but they're both pretty great for the price.

We've had the Brentwood Gel 11" Memory Foam Mattress for a couple years now, and we like it so much we're going to replace our king mattress at home with the same.

We purchased a Dynasty RV Queen 10" Gel Foam Mattress for our Puma a few years ago. It was about 70 lbs when rolled and vacuum packed. I believe I paid $249 on Amazon at the time. We are going to purchase a new mattress for our Jayco FW over the winter as the mattress that came with it is very uncomfortable.....
