More counter space

Like many Jayco campers, counter space on my 24RBS is limited. There is a nice double sink. To the left is a 3-burner gas range. To the right is a small triangular counter area just large enough for a dish-drainer. There is nowhere to stack dirty dishes except on top of the gas range. Jayco switched to a flush-mount range in 2020. I got good price on a leftover 2019 which had the old-style range with a steel grate that sits above the countertop. My plan was to put a large cutting board on the top of the range when extra counter space is needed but there really no place to store something big like that when not in use. Instead, I purchased some ½” thick polycarbonate and made a cutting board that hinges and folds for storage. A slide-lock holds the board in place when stowed. When more space is needed, I can fold the panels down. I must be careful to allow the stove top to cool before lowering the panel, however. Polycarbonate can melt. Photos are posted for those interested in doing something similar.

It always seems like I need the most counter space when I'm using the sink or the stove top, so.....

Not to highjack your post but one way that I increased my counter top space was to remove the stove that we never used in the first place. Moved the microwave down and added a cutting board. We use either Butane as shown (have 2) or our Portable induction cook top. I added an extra 20 amps for a total of 50 to cover everything that we need.
Our trailer is a 21’ hybrid

Ingenious! Our TT came with a metal cover that is hinged and sets over the stove to gain a little counter space; then it folds up and sits behind the stove when not needed.

When we started looking for a new camper in 2019, Jayco was eliminated because of the non flush stove. In 2020 they changed it so we ended up getting a 24RBS. Jay

Are you sure its polycarbonate?
Looks like polypropylene.

Polypropylene or HDPE is normally used for cutting boards.

We have the same layout in our 248RSBW.
I wish that window opens!

You are correct. It’s polypropylene, not polycarbonate. Two 12 x 24 panels purchased from amazon. If you build this, watch where you put the hinges to avoid hitting the grate.
