Several Jay Feather models gained 300lbs from 2015 to 2016. Anybody know why?
All the models that stayed from 2015 to 2016 gained about 300lbs in shipping weight. Anybody know why?
X17Z
X19H
X213
X23B
X254
They all gained significant weight.

The new X23B, I noticed has a much beefier frame, and leaf spring suspension. I bet the rest on that list do too.
My frame is very light, made by a stamped metal technique, and has many holes in the frame to remove material, hence reducing weight. I also suspect my torsion axle weights assembly weighs a lot less too.

Didn't they finally get away from the Luann flooring and move to plywood as well?

A 2016 X23B, or a a "new" one? Like 2018.

Last year's camping show is where I noticed the change. So I would guess they had a 2017 model on display, but it could have been a 2016.

That could be it. The weights on the X23B went like this:
2015: 3,905
2106: 4,225
2017: 4,205
2018: 4 250
But the GVWR jumped up 5,350 in 2018 from 4,950 from 2017. Maybe you saw a 2018? Or would that be impossible for the time of year that you saw it?

Okay, I have an answer!
...traditionally we include the weight of the Customer Value Package (CVP) in the Unloaded Vehicle Weight (UVW), since it’s a mandatory option (how’s that for an oxymoron!). Model year 2015 was an exception. For some goofy reason, we chose to omit the weight of the CVP from the UVW. For 2016, we decided to add it back in; hence, the jump in the UVW.
If you’re looking at the yellow weight sticker on either model year product, the dry weight on the sticker is correct; that is, it includes the CVP and all other options that were ordered with that specific trailer.
