Just got a 2016 174bh. The front window must have a leak as the wall below and to the side is very soft. No signs of water anywhere but I haven’t opened up the wall or window yet. My plan is to remove the window for re sealing and get a better idea what is behind the “wallpaper”. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? What is a recommended fix? I’m thinking foam board or maybe even spray foam to regain the rigidity in that area.
Ac is a roof top unit.
Actually dug into the project and found the wood to be way too far gone to do anything other than replace the effected area. The 2x3 structural wood was still pretty solid but I did sister up a 2x2 mostly for piece of mind. I contacted jayco and they told me I’d have to order a full sheet of luan with the matching covering directly through a dealer. I was hoping to buy a roll like you would wallpaper and only replace the damaged section.
Amidst the current covid-19 lockdown all dealers are temporarily closed never mind the nearest one is an hour away. And how much would the dealer charge for a 4x8 sheet!?
I decided to get a sheet of wainscoting from my local big box store and a qt of paint which my wife and I feel will match nicely with the stock wall covering and cabinets.
Progress pics to come...
Sisterd up a fresh 2x3 to the damaged one. It wasn’t too bad but had some rot in 2 places so I decided to play it safe.
Added a little insulation while the wall was open too. It wasn’t horribly done from the factory but I’m sure it settled some from bouncing around so I filled the voids and replaced the stuff that got wet.
I just used a piece wainscoting for the wall panel. Since all local dealers and even jayco is closed until further notice I opted for that as opposed to an oem wall panel.
I picked a complimentary color and found a stain that matched very close to the original trim/cabinet color.
Very pleased with the results! Total cost including window seal and silicon was around $100!

Thank you! Yes we are very pleased with it. If it wasn’t for the covid situation I may have gone with a factory panel but this really does look much nicer!
Another thing you should do is go up on the roof and inspect all the caulking. Should do this twice a year. Couple years ago, I applied eternabond tape over nearly all the caulking. This should prevent alot of potential issues do the road. I still need to inspect periodically.
You should be working for Jayco!!
Wow.. Ah, you have to love those front windows. Mine leaked on its way home from the dealer. Yes Brand New!.. a 145RB.
Good luck and keep up the good work. Your a master.
