Storage Yard Price Increase

We've kept our trailer at the same facility since we purchased it. We are now going on our 3rd year. We have found that every year they raise the price $5.00 per month. I think it back fired this year. They went from a full park to about 20 vacancies. This concerns me as the property in near an area with major development and we are afraid they are might sell the park.

I'm not sure why the concern over $5 per month extra. What isn't going up in price? How much do property taxes go up per year? Mine on average is a few hundred dollars. Insurance rates go up as well. People want more money every year. Business owners pass that expense on to the customers as they to want their profits.

To your point if they are in a prime area they can get the increase and if not sell the property for a premium and move on.

Sometimes there is also another motive behind it. The RV park in FL where my in laws are at raised their seasonal prices quite a bit. There hope was to drive out a large number of the "trouble makers" so they wouldn't come back.

In the end you have two choices. If you like the place pay the extra $5 and if not then store your unit at your house or find another storage lot but don't be surprised to find they too raise their rates.
