Trailer brakes aren’t being detected. HELP

I just recently hooked up my travel trailer to my 2012 ram 2500 to move it the other day. When raising my electric jack it was very slow in accending and descending. The camper was plugged in to power at the time. Eventually the motor stopped working on the electric jack but no fuse was blown. I’m not too worried about this but wanted to detail this as well in case this leads to the problem that I am having.

The trailer is not being detected by the truck. The marker lights on the camper work when plugged in to the truck but the brakes are not. I never had this issue before. The lights inside the camper work as well on the battery so you would think the marine battery has some type of juice. I’m not even sure if the battery assists
I know this issue isn’t the truck because I hooked up to a friends camper and it detected the breaks right away.
The camper is a 2013 Jayco 22fb travel trailer

Either ground or your controller is not working to charge your battery hence your battery is dieing. Your brakes needs the battery to work.

Take your battery and get it checked, the behavior with the slow jack would indicate it may be due for a replacement.

If your battery is low, when you connect to the trailer the voltages will be thrown off and the controller may not be able to tell if you have brakes or not. The recognition problem will probably go away if your battery is brought back up to full voltage by charging, but you'll also be sacrificing safety if your battery isn't working properly.

In the event of a break-away your trailer battery is what activates the brakes, so if you don't have a working battery then your trailer will not stop on its own.
