We had day/night shades in our class-B and spent lots of nights in that. After dark, with the interior lights on, the shades were down. If we got too hot due to lack of ventilation, usually the lights were shut off and the shades went up.
In bed, if I got wet (I slept next to the window) or the DW was too cold, I shut the window. The shades were virtually always open, unless privacy demanded otherwise. The windows all had screens so when the inside lights were off, we were comfortable with the windows partially or completely open and the shades open a corresponding amount.
