1992 cardinal fresh water tank

Hello Campers,
My camper did not have the original fresh water tank. I was getting ready to look for one and I thought I read that you could put a larger one under the floor in the trailer frame between the ribs. Is any one familiar with this or have any opinions on it?

We had a jerry can style 5 gallon plastic jug under the sink of our old Coleman. It was handy because we could walk or drive to a spigot and refill it. I also had a collapsible 2 gallon jug to get refills.

Adding a tank under the RV would mean adding a fill port and a drain port which might be a little low to the ground and subject to rupture.
