1998 Jayco Eagle drain leak

Our kitchen sink drain leaks (where you open the kitchen and the male part of the drain meets the female part). I can see some residue around the edges of the male part so I'm assuming we are missing some sort of gasket. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? More importantly, does anyone know how we can fix it?

We leave a week from today for our maiden voyage...I dont know whether to be excited or freaked out. We DO NOT know what we are doing!

There should be threaded collars that attach the different parts of the drain plumbing. Sometimes you can stop a leak by just tightening the collar. Only hand tighten, you don't need a wrench.
If that doesn't work, there's a soft plastic half tapered gasket that the collar tightens up against. It's called a compression ring.
If it's leaking from the sink basket, there's another collar to try tightening, or replace the flat rubber gasket that seals it. Hope this makes sense to you.

Thank you so much. I'll ask my SO if it makes sense to him
