Trouble Finding Vin

Hi guys,

So I am having trouble locating a VIN number on a 1976 Jayco Pop Up:

I have the TAG on the Drivers Side but it only has the Serial Number. Not the VIN number. I have tried looking around the whole camper and cannot find anything! Any help would grately be appreciated

Thanks So Much!

Back then that may have been all they used.

If the DMV registration has that same number on it for identification, that may be what they used for the VIN number.

Following.. When I bought my used 2015 Jayco last fall I did check the VIN decal on the drivers side and the yellow decal on the screen door to make sure it matched the title. Which it did and no problems. I have some back ground in VIN stamping locations when it comes to cars and car parts. I wanted to know where the VIN was stamped on my trailer due to thefts etc.. I checked every know location and so far have never located a hard stamped VIN. ummm. So if it was stolen and the 2 decals were removed how would I prove to LEO that it is my rig ? Interesting. I haven't done it yet but I will be stamping VIN numbers in a few different locations just because. I was expecting it to be on the A frame at a minimum. I have searched the frame rails as best I could but no luck there.

I've seen our VIN on the frame rails one time when I was underneath it, but it is 2012. I'm not sure how many years they've been putting it in multiple places.

In the early 70's they were stamped into the top of the "A" frame, at least our STARACRAFT pup was.

Prior to 1981, the serial # is the VIN.

Notice 76 in the serial #. Older campers always included the year in the serial #. Then usually followed by length and production number. Yours has the 76 but I doubt it's 24ft. long. But it may be #228 of that production year.

Actually if they are measuring maximum length then a 12' box pup will be very close to 24' long when open.
