Steps operate from coach battery. Mine stopped working after I accidentally left the radio on for extended period. Worked great after fully charging battery.

I have the same model as you, the 2016 Redhawk XD on a ford 2015 E450 chassis and it definitely has rear shocks but not the best. I am also considering upgrading.
