The 264bhw doesn't have a slide, I had a 2015 26BHS which is probably what you have....I can't recall if I ever turned on the furnace with the slide in....

You don't have a cover or tarp tightly...

Can't comment on why it's doing that, but I wouldn't consider it normal.

You can always use this calculator if you think you have a wrong hitch size...

I've got a 26bhs (which are probably identical bunks) and I barely fit at 6'1" but lying diagonal probably would help.
We don't use the upper bunk for sleeping, but it is handy for storage of light...
