Then I figure well some one walked their dog around my trailer and didn't clean up, then someone else thought I'd left it there and decided to teach me a lesson by leaving it on my steps. I was getting pretty aggravated.

Upon further investigation the plastic bag was full of grass seed that the campground golf course greens keeper had left me to fill in some bare spots on my campsite.
When I read this, I remembered the JFLIGHTRisk post #26 and thought, oh oh, hope they weren't in the same campground.

Yes, I always hope I never run into the guy that I mentioned in my first post. Cause he knows who reported him.

Do you wear gloves when you wipe your butt?

The way I see it, no gloves are/were involved when I use the toilet and changed my kids diapers. Soap and water or anti-bacterial wipes did the job then, so what's the difference?

Seems like this tread start to be childish with a lot of paranoia. Different people make different choices. And yes it takes all kinds of imperfect people to make this world.
Hope everyone on this forum has a wonderful day!

Agreed on the gloves thing. I wear them when I dump but every time I get back in the truck after putting them back in the bin and wiping with a bleach wipe I think to myself that it's completely unnecessary and the fact that I use the same pair probably means it's even dirtier.

Case in point, I just ate my lunch in my truck after working on sprinklers, grading a lawn and mixing a tank of hydroseed. My hands probably have a grease, decomposing leaves , I'm sure a little crap and a lot of dirt on them, but I've done the same thing for 25 years and believe it or not I'm still alive and well.

Modern America likes to live in a bubble.

And yet, you wouldn't want a surgeon to operate on you without clean hands.

A lot of disease is prevented by hand washing.

Does it really hurt anyone if someone else chooses to wear gloves while dumping?

Beer cans in the fire pit. Does anyone really think they're going to burn?

Also, cigarette butts all over the place.

Nope, everyone has their own choice. I just wear gloves because I'm not worried about washing my hands before I eat, or drive, or touch any of my stuff. I wash my hands even after wearing gloves because I'm careful.
Being in EMS I know it's the small cut, splinter hole, hangnail or otherwise compromised skin on your hands that get you. I wear gloves because I don't want someone else's CDiff or Mersa, or whatever other weird bacteria/disease lurking at dump stations getting into my system. It only takes once! I'd rather be inconvenienced for the cost of a cheap pair of nitrile gloves and a couple more seconds than contract a disease. Why chance it?

Admittedly, I don't always wear gloves, but I keep soap in the same compartment with all my equipment and will wash immediately after (either with the outdoor shower (which I stage ahead of time) or directly from the spigot) and frequently will go inside and wash again. And that's true even if I'm wearing gloves.

I will always wear gloves at the dump station, but not necessarily if I'm at a full-hookup site. I use the thick nitrile gloves you get at Harbor Freight. I use them all the time at home, especially when I'm working on a vehicle, they're actually really good gloves.

There's nothing like handling waste to make you acutely aware of what you do with your hands! Let's just say I don't bite my nails much any more!

I can guarantee you every time you grab the toilet/sink/door handle in the public restroom, you're getting a handful of someone else's poo germs. And somehow you are still alive...

Gloves are cheap insurance. Why take a chance?

Unless you live dangerously.

I don't wear gloves dumping either. I try not to wallow in it. I'm OK with washing my hands when done.

As to the original question, it is disgusting to leave any mess in the campsite. It only takes a moment to give it a quick walk around.

The only plumber I ever hired (and fired for delaying the job) wore nitrile gloves while just checking out the plumbing.

Besides, you missed the point. Taking a dump, then immediately washing one's hands before handling anything else doesn't compare to handling a nasty sewer hose and fittings, then touching God only knows what all else before washing one's hands.
