Seeing the price of diesel jump way over that of gas, I'm happy I sold my Chevy 2500HD diesel a few years ago. While it was darn near capable of pulling a house off its foundation, the price today for diesel would break my budget.

I go by dollars per mile when you measure all costs. Not that great a difference.

I think I’m going to buy some stock in H.I.G. Capital. They own Stant locking gas caps.

I was watching news this AM and there was a story of how some people have discovered their gas tanks going totally empty overnight. People are crawling underneath, and instead of cutting the cat converter, are drilling a hole in the gas tank and stealing the gasoline. That's desperate.

I'm in upstate SC where diesel was going for 3.769 last week. This week the same place was 3.999 and that was the low price places. Many are over $4 bucks.
edit: now 3 days later diesel is 4369. Ouch but we are still travelling!

I'm jealous. Gas prices in Canada are rapidly approaching $2/l or about C$8/gallon. Driving to Florida next week and gasbuddy trip calculator still says under US$500 return trip.

It jumped $.30 just today and nearly $.70 in the last 2 days.
I went to fill my Yukon tonite headed home after work and our local Sam's club ran out of 87 and had very little 93 left. People were driving off like a bunch of maniacs like the end of the world was coming.

We decided to visit the rest of Arizona. Grand Canyon, North Rim, maybe Monument Valley, Painted Desert, etc. Bought a subscription to Arizona Highways and are using it to find new geography. We like Mesa and Tucson. Mesa Sunset is a great park close to everything and the KOA in Tucson even has a dog wash.

Gas Prices
Yes, the higher prices will affect our travel plans out West so now we're just looking at staying in our State or just one over. I won't get into politics but I think you can read my mind on this one.

Gas prices getting way too high. I don’t know why the US and Canada don’t up their oil production. I’m ready for a alternative to a vehicle that uses oil products. Here’s a little sample of our local prices of premium gas.
Diesel prices are about the same as regular gas around here.

I had an April thru June trip planned that is now cancelled. Diesel price is one reason. Other reasons include the current Ukraine war. How it plays out can have a tremendous effect on us, not just fuel prices. Oil is hard to find. I use Rotella T6 and here in AZ it has not existed for several months. (Although not a reason, distilled water has not existed for several months.) Although I can still find DEF, I have heard some people in some areas have problems getting it. I think we'll just do some semi-local boondocking.

Word going around on social media that gas prices at the pump will climb over $2 a gallon this weekend. We just went to our fill station to top off our tanks. it was 5:00 a.m. and we had to wait in line to get to the pump. One guy was filling a 25 gallon drum in the back of his truck.. Diesel Fuel is now 5.85 a gallon. Yesterday is was 5.15..

The price of no more mean tweets is very high. It is up to the casual, uninformed voter to decide if it is worth it or not.

Now let's imagine if this increase cost of gas issue became an increase cost of power issue. People are now lined up at the pumps for a quick 5min fill up, imagine the lines for a 30min charge. You cant tell me in the future itll cost the same to charge your car at home vs getting it charged at a charging station. Besides, when business/commercial power takes precedence over residential, they'll shut off power to residential areas, then what are people gonna do?? Theres so much they dont have figured out and when they do they wont tell us until WAY after the fact, if they tell us at all.
Anyway, getting back to the OP's original subject, for me fuel prices aren't gonna affect my plans. I'm still one of the working stiffs out here that can make up for it with this thing called overtime. It's always there, I just hate having to work it.
