It could be $10 gal. and I'd still go. A tad upset, but I'd still go. Just have to budget gas into vacation a bit more.

If the price of gas/fuel exceeds your traveling budget may I suggest cutting or decreasing money spent on another item. Hit the road. Life is too short. Get out there, see the USA , “stop and smell the roses” before they wilt and die! We are so fortunate so while we have good health we sold our house two years ago hit the road for a year then bought a townhouse closer to our daughters as a home base. Price of gas in our area has only gone up 8%.

We enjoy camping too much to let it change our travel plans. Heck when food prices go up we still eat.

Just factor in what you saved in 2020 by not going as much. We are not changing any plans and actually are making more plans that last year.

The cost of fuel is a small part of the investment. IMO

Nope. Been working remotely for a year and all indications are that it will become permanent, saving me a lot of gas money on a 90 mile round trip commute to work. That’s a lot of savings in fuel that can go into camping, not to mention it opens the possibility of camping while I work remotely

Another Item On the New Green Horizon

I hear rumblings of a federal mileage tax being implemented. Add another 25˘ to your gallon?

I drive a hybrid (RAV4) as my daily driver. The gas chugging beasts that my motorhomes have been eat my hybrid gas savings.

I figure at least I'm making a dent in the bill !

I started RVing in 2010. I remember paying $4 +/- a gallon for regular unleaded and getting 8-9 mpg towing. That was unfortunate, but it was the cost of doing business. Currently watching fuel prices skyrocket as the result of a presidential EO is frustrating for sure, but it won't stop me. Perhaps it will result in fewer trips that are longer (ie a week long trip instead of 2 weekend trips), but I paid over $60 for truck and trailer, I plan to use them.

I think it was back around 08-10 time frame winter diesel here in michigan was $4.25 or higher. 60gal fuel tank, pulling a 4 place enclosed trailer with 3-4 sleds inside, about 530mi round trip and the fuel bill for the truck was $225. Add in gas for the sled, oil, and motel stay and it was a $500 bill, and that was just a weekend trip. I did that 5 weekends in a row.
Fortunately, camping season isn't upon us here yet but I'm trying to get ready and whatever overtime I work is getting put away because we're hearing diesel will be knocking on $6/gal this summer. And if I run out, I'll just go back and work some more overtime. Dont care. Not stopping me.

Possibly, I suppose, but I don’t see it.

I remember taking a picture of and AVGAS price of $3.00 per gallon in Bettles, Alaska about 20 years ago. In the lower states we were paying under $2.00 at the time and the Alaska price seemed so unusual.

When gas prices seem sky high, it's always nice to look back and know you took advantage of them when they were low.

We traveled more in 2020 (7,000 miles) than we did in any 2 previous years combined.

Not everyone reduced their travel in 2020.

I don't get to go camping enough so I doubt it will change my plans. Right now what is changing my plans is the slow movement of getting parts and things fixed on my trailer. It has been in the shop since the day before Thanksgiving.

I know that pain. When I owned my Edo float equipped C-172, I was glad it had an autogas STC.

I hope to someday add another RV to the fleet: A Vans RV-4 or RV-8.

Mine too! Love driving when I want to. Gas was $4.00 per gallon 5 0r 6 years ago. Many freaked out when it was $3.00 or more in 2006.

Oil companies have taken it hard during the last year. They will expect us to make up for it.

Maybe time to buy some oil company stock. Then, take your dividend money and pay your gasoline bills!

I had the displeasure of filling my new, to me, F150 last week. It has the "extended trip" 36 gallon fuel tank.On the negative side, I hate seeing the numbers on the pump get that high. On a positive, I won't be filling more than once a month, except when towing!

Just paid $14.69 for 2 gallons of ethanol-free gas for the boat outboard. Makes me happy to pay $3.79 for diesel!

Don't blame the oil companies. Their profit is low compared to the entities that slap the taxes on fuel.
