Nope. If I couldn't afford the fuel, then I shouldn't have bought the truck and trailer!

Low fuel prices were nice while they lasted, but fuel prices will not stop me from camping.

Back in 1979 when gas was approaching $1.00 a gallon, I asked my Dad, “What are we supposed to with the high price of gasoline?” His reply, “Just pay it, that’s all!”

When my son asked me about gasoline being over $4.00 per gallon overnight after Hurricane Katrina. What do you think I said?

If you want to play, you have to pay.

When the cost of a gallon of fuel hits a certain price, a lot of people have to decide where their disposable income will go. Fuel in my area is $2.69 so we're no where near the "psychological" barrier yet. Me, I'll spend my last dime to be able to recreate.

Agree with you 100% on this. We are on our first outing of the season to one of our favorite places in southern Utah. So far gas has actually been a bit cheaper most every place we've stopped than in some prior years. We are hoping to make up for some of the lost opportunities last year so are planning more trips this year to "catch up"......

I'll go out and check my fuel log in my Ram, but I'm sure that back in 2008 I paid over $5.00/gal for diesel when in Florida. I don't like high fuel prices, but it will take quite a bit before we can compare to back then.

On edit: Highest I've paid was $4.99 on 7/12/08.

I live in California. The farther we get from home, the cheaper diesel is for us. So, if we’re going to travel, we’re better off racking up the miles to other states. But, I hope it discourages the crowds. Win-win.

My opinion is that we are just beginning to see what will turn out to be a dramatic increase in not only gasoline prices, but all products and services associated with oil. I think the cost of a gallon of gas could soon be over 5 bucks a gallon, maybe even a lot more. The current attitude in is that the internal combustion engine needs to be eliminated or else our planet is doomed to self destruct. What better way towards that goal than making it so expensive that people will just give up RV’ing.

I also don’t see an electric tow vehicle in the near future that could go 400 miles a day and tow the heavy loads we tow today. The cost of producing such a vehicle will be out of reach for most people today.

That being said I still plan to travel this summer and take advantage of “cheap gas” while it’s still available. Today I paid $2.99 to fill up my truck, the cost was $61.00. That will get me about 220 miles down the road towing my trailer.

Since retiring my commute has gone from 50+ miles a day, to 0. Now with the reservations getting filled up so quickly, by so many more campers, we're at 4 trips instead of 6 or 7. Higher fuel prices aren't an issue for us.

I'm glad I got to make one long trip across the US last year when gas prices were down. I'm now wondering if the increase will decrease the value of RV's and make it harder to sell them.

Once the border opens up again, traveling in the USA will be a deal. In Canada we're already paying $1.20/liter which equates to $4.55/gallon. Convert that to USD is approximately $3.65/gallon. Looking at Gasbuddy, as soon as I hop over the border, I'll be paying $2.60/gallon.

The higher gas prices will not deter us from hitting the road.

It didn't stop us at $4.00 a gal, why would it stop us now? RVing isn't cheap.

If you're worried about the cost of fuel get rid of the rig and stay home.
