winter has not left that area as of yet! Northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba for 2 days now and they still have feet of snow...gross....

on the up side I just checked the specs on the next trailer, tiny little one (6845lbs) compared to the last 5er I towed (13,910 lbs).

Bit behind in my updates. Spent 10 days on the road and drove approx. 11,000 kms so I was anxious to spend time with the family when I finally got home.

Hauled this one to Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was almost TOO small for my truck lol. Never even knew it was there. This was the first trailer I had any issues with. The door popped open on me 3 times! Twice while driving through Chicago. Even with the handle swung against the door and it deadbolted shut it still opened. I ended up usinf a bungee cord wrapped around bottom of handle and connected to the steps to keep it secured.

Then I turned around and headed back to KZ RV and picked up a 2013 Keystone Spree 329IK and I cannot find specs on it right now.
I know shipping weight was 8360 LBS and it was approx. 35 ft. MY least favourite trailer to tow. And believe it or not this trailer delivered approx. 1.5 mpg worse economy than the nearly 14,000 lb Cedar Creek from a few weeks ago.


The crappy part of this trip was my water pump decieded it was not making the trip home with me and seized up around Durand, Michigan leaving me on the side of hwy 69 northbound. 2 two trucks, $400, and 5 hours later I was back on the road. Home now until Tuesday then headed back to pick up another to bring back to Nova Scotia.

Just started following this thread.....very interesting! A guy in my church used to do this for a living (we live very close to Middlebury/Goshen). He enjoyed it but said he definitely did NOT get rich doing it! In reading through the posts, a thought entered my mind (rare, I know!). You had been doing this for a while before you started hauling Jaycos. I was wondering, besides Jayco having their own haulers and being concerned with good quality, maybe they hear reports of good drivers and then start giving them some of their runs? Just a thought....

Regardless of what you pull, I enjoy hearing your travels.

Yup not getting rich for sure, many downsides but many upsides as well. For starts I no longer sit behind a desk watching the clock until quitting time, I know longer hate getting up everyday to go to a deadend job, I am no longer stressed out thinking about work and work related issues. This career / job is very non-stressful.

I run for a VERY small operation (17 drivers). So the amount of trailers we are moving is relatively small compared to some of the large outfits ie: Star, Horizon, Indiana Transport, etc. We have contracts with several dealerships in Canada and only 2 or 3 of them sell Jaycos so that is essentially why it was awhile before I hauled a Jayco. I do agree with your comment that Jayco looks for high quality drivers. IMHO their while operation is a better set up than the others I have hauled for.

Well this was some piece of work lol! I do not overly enjoy towing park models I will say that. We drove through that weather system that hit Indiana / Michigan / Ontario on Thursday. Saw rain like I've never seen or hope to see again. Stopped in Napanee, Ontario for the night and drive the remainder of trip Friday in awfel wind. Saw stretches of 7 mpg! Towing this was like towing a parachute behind me.
Nice floor plan for a park model though, big and open. I have another pic that shows the size a little better I will upload it as soon as I find it.

I can't imagine this in high winds.

Jdorant, sounds like you purchased your trailer from the same dealer we ended up at for our unit. I heard ours has been built and released for delivery so hopefully this is the next to last leg. How did things go for you at delivery time? Based on their reputation, good to excellent I hope. Thanks.

Wow, I wonder what the tongue weight is on that baby! I notice only one AC unit too, have to wonder if that will do the job on a unit that large.....

With this latest Park Model, what type of anti-sway system did you use? Two friction bars or other system? Given the windy conditions you described, it would have been a real test of the system!

Zero WD system was used during this tow.

Just got details on my next trailer and it looks like another park model. Maybe I throw the WD hitch on for this one.

2013 Puma 39PBS another park model. At least there was no wind this trip. Not many people get to tow these park models as I guess they only get moved a few times in their lifetime. This one towed well for what it is, much more aerodynamic front end compared to the last one I hauled. I was able to keep in in the 10 mpg range for the majority of the 1350 miles. On a side note it was on this trip that I logged my first 100,000 kms (62,000 miles) since I started on November 22, 2013.
