Proper Operating Water Pressure

Hello, I just purchased an adjustable water regulator and set the water pressure at 40psi, which seems to be a good setting for showers and faucets.

What is a good pressure to set to and is there an industry standard campers designed to take (max pressure)?

50 is what I hear most. The regulators I see for sale generally say 40-50 pounds. Most RV systems are designed for 50 psi. You could bump up but you'll be fine at 40.

You might want to check your owner's manual. The owner's manual for my rig says to use a regulator rated at 45 PSI or lower. I have my adjustable regulator set for 40 PSI.

40 didn't work for us. We had a fixed regulator at that psi and went adjustable to get the bump up to 50. Haven't had any issues and pressure is good throughout the trailer.

Do you use a water filter? I set my regulator at 40psi and that seems to be good.

Yes we use the blue camco in line water filter. The shower and toilet were where we felt the 40 psi was not sufficient. Like I said though, 50 psi works perfectly for us throughout the entire rig...

I use a blue inline and a whole house filter and no problems with 40 PSI.

I set mine at 65 - 70 psi. I have a canister filter at the source followed by a water softener and the whole house canister filter.

I had to go out and disconnect the coach so I could mow the grass between the driveway and the house. When I looked my adjustable pressure regulator was set at 36 PSI before the filters. The water pressure is fine at all fixtures inside the coach.

If the OP is having reduced pressure in the shower they may want to start checking the water lines for kinks or obstructions that could cause reduced pressure to those fixtures.

Ours is set to about 40psi, I’m sure it’s not exact but it’s in the neighborhood and I’m satisfied with the water supply. For several years I used a cheap non-adjustable one and always felt it limited the flow. After I bought the adjustable one I’m sure of it. The old one is now in my spares box as a backup.

The ShurFlo pump that came with my camper produces 55psi so that's where I have my adjustable set. The pex plumbing is rated for 150psi or something like that but it's the plastic fittings that are the weak link.
